I am surprised and a bit shocked with the fact that a central member of the band is seriously ill and yet it has n't really been mentioned in relation to this tour.

I suppose as Philip himself hasn't mentioned the state of his health recently it's not for us to speculate in such a public forum.

I have to say that when he first announced the tour i was very shocked at the choruses of woohoos, yipees and smiley faces that followed. Did that appear somewhat insensitive? I think so. However, i know that through private forms of contact many of the regular faces around this raft have expressed their mixed feelings.

Anyway, if you happen to dream up the Pogues in Newmarket again, please invite me. I just looked it up, and you must have had them playing at a racetrack or horse stables, and the song was probably Bottle of Smoke, right? With my luck, my Pogues dream would be pitch black and they'd just be playing Worms endlessly in that pitch black darkness. I don't know, I suppose that would be better than nothing.

That dream'll probably happen again, as it has a few times. Though sadly it's not at the racetrack (although they do have open-air gigs there) but seems to be at Newmarket town hall, or memorial hall, or some similar venue. And in the dream, for some unclear reason, I'm usually given the responsibility of making sure that Shane gets onstage in the right place and at the right time. So it's not without its stresses...

Oh that's too bad. But I'd be happy to take your place and be the Pogues roadie in your dream! One of my dream jobs, and it literally would be a dream job here.

I would guess that Philip would be more than happy about the "choruses of woohoos, yipees and smiley faces" at the announcement of the gigs. I mean all things considered, it's better than seeing no excitement that they're happening.

Oh I love this culmination of the Scunthorpe topic! Although I didn't realize they were even jokes for a while. I was serious. Wouldn't everyone love to see them play in a pub in a small town? Anyway, at least I can now picture a Scunthorpe show. I never would have pictured Shane in a long leather trench coat for it, though, so I'm glad to have that photo for accuracy.

I am not in a position to predict my level of availability for this tour 3 months down the pike. Needless to say I'd love to sig and and play all of 'em but that seems unrealistic and dzm's estimates seem more realistic to me. Rest assured one of my very able deputies will be on hand, to first play the show and then hand over the loot for the privilege
