All of this sounds quite bizarre. Perhaps the "big businessman" can be persuaded to pay Medusans' expenses to fly out there?

Private gigs for wealthy businessmen?

Just the new economics of the music business, I guess.

Hm, this is disappointing to miss out on the Pogues in the Orient. As someone who loves the Pogues and likes to visit Thailand also, the Pogues in Thailand has always been my fantasy gig. I'd hate to think I'd missed it! If it hasn't happened is it ever likely to? Hell's Ditch had a Thai theme in several songs of course but whether there is a following over there I don't know. Sadly I don't class myself as a big businessman and can't afford to make it happen!

Only once at The Baths..the other 'scunny' gig was at theFreefestival, where Boomtown Rats were on too..I was born and raised in the Skegness area, ain't been there for years. Used to take my kids to Butlins..saw some good bands too..Screaming Lord Sutch played there..and Jimmy James and the Vagabonds..good times mate!
Also..Pogues played Cleethorpes Wintergardens in '84..

I shook Shane McGowan's hand and helped him buy a double whiskey in the bar in Phuket airport on Friday afternoon Feb 8th.

OK, Here's the deal:-
Mid-afternoon on Friday Feb 8th,Shane in the bookstore in the airport in Phuket and was with his family and friends and went and paid for a bunch of books they all went into the bar/cafe that has a smoking area out the back.
Shane was a the bar attempting to order a double whiskey but the Thai bar waitress couldnt understand him, so as I was next in line in getting a drink, I translated between them. He said 'tanks for that!' and I said 'No problem' and we shook hands and I said something like 'it was an honor for me to meet you' and he said 'Same here'. The waitress delivered the whiskey to the bar and Shane paid and then off he went to join his family. I respected their privacy and didn't bother them any further. I did notice Shane go in and out of the outside smoking area a few times while I was there.

Shane and his party boarded a Bangkok Airways flight to the island of Koh Samui and Shane did say a few things to one of the airport staff girls checking the boarding passes and they had a laugh together and then off they all went through the gate and that was the last I saw of them. Despite a lot of people waiting for flights at the gate and in the terminal, I did not see anyone else recognize Shane other than me which I though was a bit strange! Also I did not take any pictures due to not wanting to cause airport security issues as well as to respect Shane and his family and friends privacy.
