Thailand

Post Sun Jan 27, 2013 6:59 pm

I read in the independant today that The Pogues are jetting to Thailand next week for a one off gig financed by some big "businessman", I presume this is complete bullshit but has anyone else heard anything of the liukes or could Philip elaborate on this?

Cheers

Thailand is not in my current plans.

Shane MacGowan is taking his other half Victoria Mary Clarke to Thailand next Thursday for a working holiday – a first-class, five-star working holiday that is.

A wealthy businessman is covering all the expenses for Shane and the rest of The Pogues to do one show in Thailand.

Are you attempting to browbeat me down by sheer weight of press evidence against me? If you're looking for clues to the contrary, why not examine the part where this wealthy businessman is "covering all expenses". The Pogues do not work for "expenses" but for high, though competitively set fees in line with market norms.

Just so we're clear - Thailand was not in my plans last week, nor is it in my plans this week. And before you check further, Thailand is not in my plans next week either. It is of course quite possible that the Macgowans have gone to Thailand, as they have form in this department, but I'm not their diary secretary so maybe, maybe not.

In that case i'll join yers onstage for a rousing raucous rendition of 'the mother-in-law song'...we may need legal representation.

Don't knock Skegness till you've tried it,i went there when i was a nipper and loved it,went there as a teenager and hated it!I do recall The Pogues playing Scunthorpe Baths in 1985 & 1988, its in the same County as Skeggy.Hopefully,The Pogues won't have to go down the holiday camp road, the thought of them been on the same bill as someone like Little & Large,Anita Harris and Jim Davidson is something i do not want to think about!
