Let's write the ultimate x-mas '05 setlist

Post Tue Sep 13, 2005 10:16 am

First of all, the songs you choose, should be songs the Pogues would actually be willing to play (not like "Sit Down By The Fire", a Popes song or "When the lions sleep tonight").

Let's take the '04 setlist as the basis for the new one.

1. Streams Of Whiskey
2. If I Should Fall From Grace With God
3. Boys From The County Hell
4. The Broad Majestic Shannon
5. Turkish Song Of The Damned
6. Young Ned Of The Hill
7. A Rainy Night In Soho
8. Tuesday Morning
9. Rain Street
10. Medley
11. A Man You Don't Meet Everyday
12. A Pair Of Brown Eyes
13. Repeal Of The Licensing Laws
14. White City
15. The Old Main Drag
16. Thousands Are Sailing
17. Body Of An American
18. Lullaby Of London
19. Dirty Old Town
20. Bottle Of Smoke
21. Sick Bed Of Cuchulainn
---
22. Sally MacLennane
23. Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah
24. Irish Rover
---
25. Star Of The County Down
26. Fairytale Of New York
27. Fiesta

if you want to change a song, you need to tell us which songs you want to replace with "new" ones!

Don't be afraid of changes. It's time for brave reforms!
...lol don't take this too serious...only messing around 8)

Here it comes. I think that in rather first half there would be known "ratherdrinky" songs and then turning to the other flavor.

And Oretown...I remember few first times when I listened to it...I was completely frozen, it never happened earlier to me. Some of my friends were affected in a very similar way. I think it could be interesting one to end with.

1 Boys from the County Hell
2 If I Should Fall from Grace with God
3 Whiskey in the Jar
4 Train of Love
5 Rain Street
6 Young Ned of the Hill
7 White City
8 Pistol for Paddy Garcia
9 Greenland Whale Fisheries
10 Medley
11 Star of the County Down
12 Misty Morning, Albert Bridge
13 Sitting on a Top of the World
14 Tosspint
15 Living in a World Without Her
16 Planxty Noel Hill
17 Amadie
18 Anniversary
19 Bright Lights
20 Squid out of a Water
21 Thousands are Sailing
----------
Encore1
----------
Lorca´s Novena
Hell´s Ditch
Wake of Medusa
----------
Encore 2
----------
Tombstone
Night Train to Lorca
Oretown

I think that "Leaving of Liverpool" would be the ultimate song to end the concert with.

Edit: You could even change Liverpool to the city you're playing in.
“An’ this is the last of Brummy,” he said, leaning on his spade and looking away over the tops of the ragged gums on the distant range.

Haha just noticed that you have a rather strange choice of setlist with loads of b-sides. I'd rather see more stuff from the very beginning with Whiskey You're the Devil, Waxies Dargle (Spider on beertray of course :D )Kitty and so on.

I like Whiskey you´re devil very much. Waxie´s Dargle was the first Pogues song I´ve ever heard and I liked it since that event. And Kitty is great as well.

Damn, Pogues should play everything!

I like almost everything what they recorded
And I love some stuff very much...it is written above (I forgot Irish Rover, Fishermen and probably something more...):-)

Sit Down By The Fire has made it to forever-condemned and never-to-be-played blacklist? :)

Not sure what lyrics Shane would come up with if he were to do it live now, not that we'd be able to understand him anyway... but I would like the opportunity to try!
