They performed at Fuji Rock Festival as "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" (or so I'd read).

TMTCH would have been good for the old timers, just like at Brixton Fridge many years ago.

All together

"Oh this is an old story that's rarely ever told
the raping of the country, of the valley
the men who came to reap with a musket and a bible
they wanted to take the valley
the valley! the valley!
they wanted to take the valley
and oh the ironmasters, they always get their way "

Happy days, Pogues and TMTCH on the same bill, I'm filling up at the thought. Not sure whether to be glad I'm still here or sad so many aren't.

Myself and Nick Robbins spent DAYS getting the ambient noises right on that record. Many pieces of metal were struck in a violent manner.

I have seen Dropkick a few times now and while I am not crazy about their recorded material they do a great live show. I got ahold of most of their albums since I hadn't listened to them in a few years and their sound is better than it was when Al Barr first started singing for them. Green Fields of France is great, as is the Fields of Athenry. Some of the other trad songs they punk out don't work quite that well (Auld Triangle and Black Velvet Band sound a bit awkward) and their punk stuff can run together a bit. This sounds overly critical but I do think they will do a good job opening for the Pogues. I think trad music loses something when bands try to make it too punk rock but sometimes Dropkick does manage a great cover. I had the same problems with Flogging Molly (hit and miss songs) but I guess expecting every song to be a gem is a bit harsh.....

Thanks. 5 out of 7 of us drink... perhaps not in as much profusion as the seasoned Pogues. Alas, we're amateurs.

Who doesn't then? You all looked rather 'under influence' on your DVD  especially the Kid

For me it's actually the same story. I bought Sin Loud, Sing P{roud because I was going to a festival where the Dropkicks were playing and I liked Good Rats and wanted to know who was the drunken singer on there :)

DKM

I actually came from the other direction. I was a Pogues and Clash fan and grew tired of listening of the same old stuff and decided to look for some new music.... and to my surprise, there was a whole punk/celtic/rock/folk scene that I really ended up liking.

Haha. A fabulous band with a totally sober frontman, who know it would work?

It will be exciting to see you all overseas.

Lets go Murphys! Are the DKM gonna open the show in Boston??
Normally they do a week of shows around St Pats so I hope they open for the Pogues.
I usually do the whole week, this year is gonna be extra fun.

The St Pattys Day shows for the Dropkicks in Boston start thursday and run through sunday so there's always that outside chance they could open for the Pogues on tuesday and/or wednesday but we'll have to see.
