Well, USA is probably more normal than Czech Republic...sniff...
Although shane+the popes were here on Respect festival and were...strange at best.

Are you sure you haven't drunk a bit too much strong Czech beer? ;) Hard to think about an adjective which would be less fitting to describe the U.S. than "normal". (Unconditional apology to all Americans present, who may take offence...)

Would you expect Shane's gig to be ordinary and common? :)

It would be wonderful if the Pogues toured North America -- a St. Patrick's Day tour, perhaps?

But the real question now is, what about another Christmas tour? Will there be one this year? (seems it had been heavily rumoured by now this time last year, if not announced....)

This topic is now split from the original Bloguemahone thread. Just FYI.

Zuzana: No, ani ne, ale čekal bych, že budou mít alespoň jeden melodický nástroj (akordeon/píšťalku), ne jen horu banj.

Sorry for not writing in english, I am just surprised there is another Czech:-)

Another Czech welcomes a fellow countryman aboard. :)

As for the Prague gig - yeah, they lacked traditional instruments, but the performance was awesome nonetheless. The absence of accordion and whistle being the only flaw. (Btw, sorry for replying in English, I just try not to turn the forum into a Babel Tower. But it was nice to hear sweet Czech language here. :))

Zuzana: No problem at all.
Yeah, still it was Shane, but imho it was rather shane + some boyz, which wasn´t in case of the Pogues (I dislike people who say Shane+the Pogues, if it is not case of reunion).
I love banjos, but I think they weren´t playing very coherent, sometimes it sounded like random noises to me. And I wanted better record than I took, but still it is in my comp and it could be worse.

I haven't heard the Popes without accordion but I always enjoyed the different sound between the two bands (Pogues and Popes) caused by the Popes' players mainly using button accordion.

Yeah, the difference is quite an interesting. Also I see big difference between banjos.

You didn´t hear it? Interesting indeed, althoug "uncoordinated" at best.
But I still remember very well the South Australia start, where it sounds great (when I listen to the record, I listen mostly to it). +Percussion were traditionally very fine (or Finer:-))

Feck that, why are you yanks always crying. You get most of the bands there anyway. U2 is Irish but they do two major legs in North America and only one over here. :?:
