I'm going to have to disagree with you there. My avatar is distinctly charcoal grey and ash grey. No black or white to be found in it (well ... except for in the frame with that santa hat - need to update the avatar without that ASAP).

I'm sorry. You are right on both acounts. I did notice after the post that you are kind of Blach and grey... and occasionaly white and red. Which just goes to prove my point really.... we are all various colors. No point in Spider attacking us fans because of our avitar colour (color). :) Just trying to salvage a thread gone terribly wrong. :D

As long as we're on the topic of avatars, I just created one for the first time (a very colorful one, I might add). Here's a test to see if I know what I'm doing....

and who's fault was that then !
ha..."none of us gave a fuck what we were doing at that point..." as they say in german mr. whistle player "wie bitte !!!!!!". i seem to remember things a little different. they were more desperate than miserable. I think you know the difference ! and i think that you should jolly well be reminded of such times - because thats the only way YOU will never end up like that again. and thats the only way YOU will know to be grateful and appreciate where exactly you now are. ! and good so !

or am i wrong ?

I don't know about right or wrong but you are seriously late. Four years plus to provoke an answer?

Are you searching through all Spider's posts looking for reasons to be annoyed by him? You'll be a busy man. :?

of course not ! i do not stop by here that often, and for some reason when i am logged in all the dates change to the day i registered. i admit it looks a bit daft when you see it like that. although i don't think there is anything wrong with reminding Spider how lucky he is that he is not dead, and how better off he is sober, don't you agree ?

A bit daft...yep!

I don't know about Spider but I feel I'm lucky to be not dead - I guess we all are; except for dead people, obviously.

I guess he will be better off sober as he has had many years of not paying for alcohol, which has got really expensive.

yeah - well....ermm....what you are saying now is quite stupid...sorry, don't mean to offend you....who cares how much alcohol costs....being in the pogues doesn't mean you get FREE ALCOHOL...or anything like that...being an alcoholic is life threatening...no matter who you are...ok ! of course he is better of sober...look how great Spider is doing now compared to then...
sorry...like i said i did not mean to offend you...i guess i know too many people who have not had Spiders fortune...

This doesn't make any sense to me.

clarky, can you (or anyone else that is seeing this behavior) email me (dzm@dzm.com) a screen shot showing the dates being missing? Thanks!

For those interested, this era of The Pogues (as all others) is well detailed in Carole Clarke's book "Pogue Mahone".

I've seen the video of this Montreaux performance, and the surprising thing is that it's a darn good show!

That said, glad to see you (almost) all healthy and still kicking last year.

I was going to create a new topic but may aswell hijack this one. What are peoples experience of the Pogues in this era? Sort of 93-96. I'd love to see/hear some stuff from then but its not exactly easy to get your hands on. Just wondering what have people seen or heard and what they thought of the band during this time.
I love it when a plan comes together.

The artist formerly known as Guest.

I only saw the Pogues live once in this period, at the Clapham Grand, if memory serves correctly this was a benefit gig for Philip Hall who was the bands press officer. It was a notable gig for several reasons not least the fact that Shane joined the band for a few songs, I believe that this was the first time he performed with the Pogues since he left in 1991, and the only time he did so until the first reunion proper in 2001.

The line up was a little unusual, opening act was John Shuttleworth and the headliners were the Manic Street Preachers (original four piece line up with Richie) who were joined by Bernard Butler, then of Suede.

PoguesLive.com shows that this gig took place on on 2nd March 1994 and that "Terry Woods and James Fearnley have left the band by this time. The Pogues are now: Spider Stacy (vocals), Jem Finer (banjo), Philip Chevron Guitar), Andrew Ranken (drums), Darryl Hunt (bass), David Coulter (mandolin), James McNally (accordian)".
I ain't doin' no deal with the devil until he starts a loyalty card scheme.

I have seen the pogues opening for The levellers. Have attended the concert just to see the Pogues. And the Pogues for me were much better than the Levellers

Is it just a rumor, or did Bob Geldof Shane times represented as a singer during a festival in Germany in 1991 at the Rock Lake?
