First ever gig for me. No expectations, just making sure I dont keel over with excitement between now and Dec 20th. All very innocent really.

First ever gig, or first ever Pogues gig?

No.1 way to confuse a Tipp man! If of course you are actually from Tipp, otherwise that quip was totally worthless. Anyway, it will be my first ever Pogues gig. (Be gentle)

Got seats because since my last Pogues gig at Brixton in 2003 I've developed rheumatoid arthritis and standing for any length of time, especially in a boisterous crowd leaves me hobbling and in severe pain, - that slope at Brixton is a bastard by the way. I've had to be realistic and go with my head rather than my heart which would have me in amongst it all. Saw The Pogues at Wembley though to be fair I only remember bits of it and the worst bit about that was just egtting there, do remember Careless Whisper and enjoying the gig and in the end it is about the music and the atmosphere that generates with the crowd. Venues are important but they aren't the be all and end all and I'd sooner see The Pogues than not which would appear to have been the other option. My wife is coming with me for the first time, though she did see Shane in 1993 with Tommy Makem in support.

I've got to say venues are an important factor for me as a gig goer the smaller the better and i am taking the o2 into account as i ponder the cost, if money was not an issue i would be there straight away, no doubts.
But work is slack and christmas is expensive so i am undecided .
On the other hand i am usually right down the front so the size of the venue, in reality is neither here nor there , i don't notice what going on behind me, ive seen the band in some big venues, the Point in Dublin for one, loved the gig, i got a wristband on the way in by chance for the pit .
If i had not got that wristband i would have been mightily pissed off. I have never been to the o2 in London so i don't know what to expect
The fact this is being billed as a special show is intriguing ,ive seen the band that many times i don't want to miss a gig that may have something different going on, brings to mind Ronnie Drew in Dublin and Sinead o'connor in Belfast, both bloody brilliant moments.
Mr C any hints ? Different set, guest appearances ? or just special as its a 30th anniversary show , Should i stay or should go now

I will not be singing at the 02 as my voice is still not up to it.

However, I can say that tomorrow we will be announcing a very special guest to open the show.

Look lads and lassies, beg, steal or borrow the 40 quid for a ticket and a few quid more for travel and a beer. When you look back next year you won't remember how much you spent but you will remember what a night you had. I'm still catching up with the cost of Paris but i don't regret one single cent that i spent. Those few days will live with me forever.

IF YOU'RE FROM HUNDREDS OF MILES AWAY, FUCK IT! GET 4 OR 5 MATES TOGETHER, GET IN THE CAR, SHARE THE PETROL, DO THE GIG AND DRIVE HOME. STRAIGHT INTO WORK FRIDAY MORNING WITH A STORY TO TELL.

Now isnt that lousy calling me a blow in. There you are above then, screaming and yelling at boys and girls to go and all im getting is abuse for doin just that! haha. Im in Scotland. Left before the recession, when Dell was still thriving!
