I am not very tall and because of this we arrived early and stood at the front so I could see them. I'm a little nervous about standing at the O2 because it is such a large venue. I looked at the other options but most of the seats have been sold! I know a Pogues crown is unique and standing at a different gig cannot really be compared to standing at one of theirs! I really want to get our tickets before they all sell out so would lbe very grateful from some feedback from anyone who has been to the O2. Thank you.

If you're wary of standing, keep trying for the seats. I find it hard to believe the entire seating allocation is already sold out. For whatever reasons, promoters/venues/ticket agencies keep parts of the house off sale for periods of time. It's one of the dark arts of concert promotion and need not concern you nor I.

Thank you Phil - however I have just bought two standng tickets! This is because when I looked on the available seating there were only three seats way back on the left side, none on the right. We really didn't want to miss out on seeing you all so decided to go for it!

Hi Phil, I had already bought my standing tickets before seeing this post about seating tickets being sold out. I checked out the ticket master which actually shows you a graphic of all seating and their availability. It appears all the upper seating is unavailable and very little lower seating is available.
Do you know if the upper seating is being used ? It's just I remember reading in a previous post by yourself that you wont use all the venue. If it is then it is close to selling out I reckon.

Sometimes seating areas are not so much Sold Out as Off Sale, which is to say those areas are being withheld from sale for whatever ulterior reason. I don't know this venue at all, so I couldn't begin to speculate on what it, or the promoter or ticketmaster are doing here though I have become, over the years, quite au fait with smaller (1000 to 2000 seater) Broadway and West End theatres and I'm wise to the tricks they use to persuade me to pay "premium price" for a ticket I can get for half that if it remains unsold on the day of the show, almost in a reverse of the "airline prices" scam. It's a high stakes game of chicken, but it seems ALL online ticketing fits that description, one way or another, these days. Election hint: some political parties are keener to introduce Regulation into this industry than others.

I think some tickets will be held back by the promoter to be put back on sale when the live album/dvd comes out and everyone remembers how good they are. Remember kids, Pogues are for life not just for Christmas

These days its the fans/followers that make the occasion, but this could be done in pub without the band! So for me also it has to be the lack of new material. I was always hoping Shane and the Popes were gonna carry on but no. Still I was lucky once upon a time so who knows ? C'mon Shane we all luv ya

I think describing The Pogues as 'musos going through the paces' is, at best, astoundingly unfair. While it's true that the core of the set list doesn't vary too much, since 2001 I've seen many 'unexpected' songs performed live - London Girl, The Parting Glass, Transmetropolitan, Dark Steets of London, I'm a Man You Don't Meet Every Day and more. Personally, I'm not too bothered about new material, as has already been pointed out it would just be constantly compared to older stuff and doubtless not as well received. I'm just blissfully happy that The Pogues are still playing and keeping alive those wonderful, wonderful songs that I have loved for so long.

I've only been to the O2 Arena once before, but as I remember it the seated areas are set out in blocks. For gigs that may not sell out the whole of the arena, I suspect they release the seats block by block (with hopefully those nearer the stage being released first), and only release further blocks of seats if/when they need them. Not sure about the upper tier. It might make sense not to use it, but on the presale link there appeared to be the option to buy tickets for it, as there were warnings not to do so if you suffered from a fear of heights...

The 02 is a big venue. While its of the size of Wembley Arena, the sides seem to be steeper. The venue its most like that I've been to is the MEN Arena in Manchester.

For those moaning about the venue, lighten up and just be glad the Pogues are playing at all. And for the bloke who came across them in 2008 and now says they are creatively dead - you've not earned your stripes so why don't you stumble across some other band who may retain your gnat-like attention span for a while.

I was driving around yesterday in a rented convertible in Hawaii and First Day of Forever and Train Kept Rolling On came on back to back off my phone. Made me decide to petition for those two songs to be include at O2 show. How do I begin the process?

For those moaning about the venue, lighten up

£6-25 booking fee for turning up at the O2 & paying in hard cash. Disgraceful. The bloke in the box office didn't even seem ashamed to take my money
I wouldn't mind so much if I thought it would be lining The Pogues pockets
