Frank Turner .... Best ever support act?

Agreed, Frank was brilliant tonight. Usually prefer him in a smaller sweatier venue but he was on top form, Long Live The Queen was amazing.

Pogues were fabulous - highlights for me were Boys, Town and Paddy. Lowlight was the overweight Essex Pogues gig virgin who found it impossible to stop shouting in her shrill wailing (and I mean wailing like at a funeral not Whaling ;)) "OH MY GOD HE IS SOOO DRUNK!". Get back to your Kings of Leon gig, wench!

Horrid venue for atmosphere, felt soulless but on the flip side the sound was great. Thank you Mr.C & co. for coming out to play, we missed you so much last year and you have yet again made Christmas magical!

Just got to my daughters at Croydon. Battered, bruised & covered in beer....brilliant gig. Christmas has returned this year. Thank you Mr C & all The Pogues. Have a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year to The Pogues and all on the forum.

12 Things I Learned Last Night

1. It's a tricky thing arranging to sell spare tickets via the interwebs. You can never quite know whether it will work out in real life. But the smile on someone's face when you do manage to meet and hand over the ticket they wanted is priceless. Hope you enjoyed the gig, mate. By the way, I still have one spare standing ticket for sale. Face value to anyone who wants it.

2. It's possible to arrive at Nandos, order and eat a meal, and get out again within approximately fifteen minutes. Even if you have to be taken up and down in possibly the world's slowest lift.

3. The O2 Arena is a big corporate soulless shed of a venue. But The Pogues can make it rock! (Even if you do still miss Brixton.)

4. The wheelchair access at the Arena is way better than at Brixton, and the viewing's better. And one of the nice girls there will bring you drinks at any point during the evening if you ask. Sadly you do have to pay for the drinks, but hey.

5. Frank Turner is even better live than I remember him. I need to see him again soon.

6. Young Ned Of The Hill should be an integral part of any Pogues gig, and Mr Woods needs to be persuaded of this.

7. Shane does a grand version of Thousands Are Sailing, but I really miss Mr C singing it.

8. You get a very good class of fake snow at the Arena, and plenty of it.

9. However hard I try, I can never remember a whole setlist unless I write it down at the time. Setlist please, anyone?

10. You can never leave a Pogues gig without overhearing someone on their mobile saying, "Shane MacGowan was totally out of it. He kept having to go off stage and other people had to sing." Even when Shane is on damn fine form, and even though part of the joy of the Pogues is that different band members sing different songs, for goodness' sake.

11. The strangest revelation of the night was that it turns out that I am actually Fr McGreer's dad.
Well, you never quite know about these things, do you? But it was good to see my long-lost only son after all these years. And I suppose that makes me Grandfather McGreer.

12. The Pogues are the best band in the world. (Actually I knew that already.)

Thanks to the band for a truly great night. Happy Christmas. 8)

First time at the O2, overall experience was pretty good!

I thought Mr Fearnley knew what he was doing when he hung about behind Shane during 'Broad Majestic Shannon', getting himself on the big screens!

The main plus was the crystal-clear sound. Having seen the Prodigy on Tuesday as Brixton, with a live drummer, one live guitarist, two blokes shouting stuff with the rest surely pre-recorded, the sound was best described as muddy. As usual at Brixton. What goes on with the sound there?

Another memorable night, one of many, thanks again!

PS, sorry Ella, but great to have a proper singer again on FONY.

Saw a review on The Standard website saying uncomplimentary things about Shane's vocals. I presume this is bullshit, Any comments from people who were there?

Fantastic, fantastic show once again....thankyou to The Pogues for making my Christmas. So many highlights....great to hear 'Star Of The County Down'again, and 'Young Ned Of The Hill'. Shane on top form, Camille was fantastic on 'Fairytale...' And I hope that the kids stood near me (jeez, how old do I sound?) whose first Pogues gig it was enjoyed it, and may it be the first of many. As regards the venue, well it may be a soulless arena but once The Pogues were on stage did anyone notice anymore?
Just one thing - can we have a whip round and get James some kneepads? How many pairs of trousers does that man get through?

Happy Christmas everybody.

Two more things I learned last night (see above)

13. It's not easy to take photos when you are, at the same time, dancing and singing at the top of your voice.

14. I really do need a better camera.

Here are a few rather substandard pics, anyway:
