Thanks to 'fatbloke' we're going to Stockton & I've finally joined the forum - Fiesta!!!!!!!!!! My other half has just had 12 stitches removed from his leg - so if you see someone wobbling...lend him a tenner & he'll buy you a drink (but he did fall asleep Manchester Apollo 2010...) Grew up with The Pogues & have seen you so many times couldn't miss this for a dodgey leg :)

Back from Cologne. Some kind of strange location and too big for the amount of people that visit the show. Shane in great shape, band played well, good audience but what a terrible sound! Most of the show it was for too soft, unbelievable, what went wrong? It could have been one of the best Pogues gigs I have seen, but becauase of the bad sound, it wasn't. And it was also a bit short, 1 hour and 20 minutes I guess.

Sorry you had trouble with the sound. Cologne council has a 68DB limit on volume levels, this is completely out of our control.

You'd wonder why the council even bother to allow an outdoor gig if you can't turn the volume up.

dBA Example
0 healthy hearing threshold
10 a pin dropping
20 rustling leaves
30 whisper
40 babbling brook, computer
50 light traffic, refrigerator
60 conversational speech, air conditioner
70 shower, dishwasher.................................POGUES
75 toilet flushing, vacuum cleaner
80 alarm clock, garbage disposal
85 passing diesel truck, snow blower
90 squeeze toy, lawn mower, arc welder
95 inside subway car, food processor, belt sander
100 motorcycle (riding), handheld drill
105 sporting event, table saw
110 rock band, jackhammer
115 emergency vehicle siren, riveter
120 thunderclap, oxygen torch
125 balloon popping
130 peak stadium crowd noise
135 air raid siren
140 jet engine at takeoff
145 firecracker
150 fighter jet launch

The Sound was good, the crowd had great energy, lots of cool people. Very close to the stage. Ok, Olympia Theatre is louder, but it was good. I would have liked some more songs. I missed thousands are sailing. Why only 90 minutes Mr. C ?
I thought curfew was from 22.00h...?

Just come back from the gig in Cologne. Crap sound, too short! I should have been able to hear what was said from the stage from a distance of 60 metres. The sound was totally shit and that was not only a problem with how loud it should have been. I was not impressed with just 1 hr 20 minutes performance, I expect at least 90 mins for a concert. Encores!! were there any? But to make a break after 50 minutes and then just walk off stage after 80 minutes is just not on.

Seems to me that the gig was just something to chalk off. No passion and no value for money.

Pissed off because I last saw the Pogues in Sheffield with Kirsty Maccoll and had happy memories of the atmosphere of that concert. I wish now that the memories of the concert had been kept in there.

After seeing more than 20 Pogues gigs in recent years, tonight was a new experience. The sound wasn't the problem. It seemed to me that the band didn't like playing tonight. Shane was in a great mood, by far more enthusiatic than normal, but the other guys probably had an importantant appointment at 9 pm. The show startetd at 7.30 and was over at 8.47 pm, despite a cheering and celebrating crowd. Hope this will change the other nights in Germany.

I enjoyed the concert in Cologne, but it was very short sadly enough.

I have made a few pics, 2 short clips and 1 full movieclip of the last song of the evening ''Fiesta''.

Here the pics from Cologne 07-08-2012 :

And here is the full movieclip of the last song of the evening ''Fiesta'' : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4V6br4uO8q4

Hope you enjoy the things I've made.

Hi !
I just came home from the Cologne Gig. I liked the venue at the banks of the Rhine, was a first time for me and there were a couple of thousand people there. It could have been a little bit louder, but the sound was not bad. All instruments were crystal clear and the leading mic was perfect. The band was in great shape and Shane seems to become better and better the more years he is back with the others.
Unfortunately they only played less than 90 minutes and I have no idea why. Everybody looked ok and it cannot not have been because of the curfew. I have seen them at least 10 times in the last 5 years and they always topped two hours. I missed Thousands and some more... Maybe Mr. Chevron can explain why they played only 1 1/2 hours... please
