Just got an email from Olympia in Paris abot the second show

"Les Pogues au grand complet, Shane Mangoustan, Spider Stacy, Jem Finer, James Fearnley, Andrew Ranken, Philip Chevron, Terry Woods et Darryl Hunt reviennent à Paris après 20 ans d'absence pour célébrer leurs 30 ans de carrière le 11 ET 12 septembre 2012 a l'Olympia! Join the party!!"

I´ve seen Shanes name being spelled in a lot of different ways but this.....

Great misspelling of Shane's name, this beats,by a long way the misspelling of Andrew's name on Steve Earles 'Cooper, i mean COPPERhead Road album!

What is with the fucking staples?
Mine had nothing attached to the back.
Things that make you go huh?

It's like when the person took my ticket at The Point, tore it in pieces and threw it in a bag. Ha ha.
I was like WTF did you go and do that for?

It's sold out but keep trying. For reasons I've never understood, new tickets are often released for sold out shows right up to show day. I suppose allocations are returned from ticket agencies etc.

Neither Berlin nor Hamburg for me, alas. But if the above picture works, you can see what a fantastic location Spandau is. From 11th century Slavic fortification to Nazi chemical weapons development (but never the residence of Rudolf Hess) the citadel has a fascinating history. In Spandau Carl Schurz, later to become US Secretary of the Interior under Hayes, liberated his fellow revolutionary of 1848, the poet Gottfried Kikel, in a night-time raid from his high-security jail. Spandau also has a musical heritage, being the birthplace of Bela B of Die Ärzte and of Ivan Rebroff!

The Pogues date is advertised as THIR(S)TY YEARS OF POGUE MAHONE, whose Shane MacGowan (sic) formerly was the singer of „Erecting Nipples“ (yes, really). Besides vocals, he is going to play "Guitar, Banjo, Bodhrán" - let's hope!

Have fun all who manage to go! :)

Norway to Paris in September!

Post Sat Jun 30, 2012 6:08 pm

Hi all. I am going to Paris to see the Pogues in September. I saw them in Drammen two years ago, finally, after a long wait! I was first aware of them when the first album came out and I reviewed both the first two albums in a music fanzine I was the editor of at the time with great enthusiasm. I had an invitation to see them in Oslo at a midday press gig in 1985 but had to work my day job :-( Never got around to seeing them in the 80s but was quite impressed in Drammen in 2010. I am a big music fan and my favorites are Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis, all of which I have seen many times and had the chance to hang out with them over the years. Sadly now only Jerry Lee is Last Man Standing. I also like Steve Earle a lot, I met him in Nashville in 1984 and he was a really nice and humble young man back then. Great music and love live performances!

The Drammen show made my get back into the Pogues' music and I have aquired the albums on CD and the box set, which I just bought. Transmetropolitan and Battle of Brisbane are still among my favorites!

I will be travelling with a friend of mine and we are looking for tickets to the September 11 show, as we were too late in ordering. Hopefully we will be able to get some between now and then or maybe even on the black market outside the venue! If anyone has one or two to spare, let us know and I will buy them off you. Prefer the standing in front orchestra pit, but anything goes!

Rock on and see you there!

Welcome onboard, Folke 8)

Unfortunately i've no spare tickets but Philip's right about venues releasing extra tickets. They do it to try and combat touts outside the venue.

See you there.

Hi everyone. I've never posted on here before but have been to lots of gigs over the years. This year, the only gig me and my mates can make it to is the one in Colmar. Judging by the festival's website, it looks as though the Pogues are not actually headlining but playing before some Frenchman I've frankly never heard of:

http://www.foire-colmar.com/fr/programmation-festival/

Will this be a full gig or just a shorter festival or even (God forbid) support slot? Any info would be much appreciated.
