I'm missing the Christmas Tour 2011

I would just like to say that the run up to Christmas this year just hasn't been the same without the sheer enjoyment of the annual Pogues gig! :(
With FONY playing on the radio and satellite music channels all the time just now it made me realise just how much I'm missing the Pogues Christmas Tour!! You just don't realise how great the concerts were and how much excitement they generated until they're not there anymore! :(
There was something really special about sticking your ticket in your pocket and heading out for a pint (or two  ) before the gig. All the bars in Glasgow had their Christmas decorations up and you really felt festive! I loved it!! I've met some really great people at the Pogues concerts and I've enjoyed all the bouncing around and singing with them.

I hope the band have enjoyed their winter break from touring and I'm hoping (and praying) that they'll be back next year! :)

I would like to wish all of the band (especially Phil), and all the fans the very best for the festive season!

HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL!!!!! :D

I missed the christmas tour as well. I've been to London every year since 2004.
So this year we booked a trip to London anyway, just to have a few pints and see some gigs. Went to see the Saw Doctors in Shepherds Bush, after having a few pints in Brixton. The staff in Canterbury Arms missed you as well.

Tomorrow would be the 25th anniversary of me and my Mrs seeing the Pogues together for the first time. We had both seen them before we met, but you know you've picked a good 'un when she says out of the blue...."I've got us Pogues tickets". I decided she could keep me there and then. :D
I feel that it's a little inconsiderate of the boys not to have arranged it for us to be able to celebrate in the appropriate manner. :(

that's why I wish Shane (the main impediment ) would have allowed one of the Xmas shows to be filmed, pop in the DVD and we'd get our fix each year they don't do the tour. And the Pogues get royalties from DVD sales so everybody wins :D

Yeah, I tried something like that. My lack of success is due to Michael Gove.

This time last year, it was snowing really really heavily. I started to panic because I was supposed to be going to see The Pogues in Birmingham the next day. Thing was I didn't need to panic as despite the fact the snow was deep, we made it to Birmingham on time. There was a point I didn't think we'd make the gig as none of the locals knew where the venue was. Eventually a coloured guy pointed us in the right direction. Walking round in the snow wasn't much fun, but the gig made up for it.

Both Jake and I miss our little trips away this time of year, seeing The Pogues somewhere different, staying in a different place, it really makes Christmas for us. This year definitely doesn't feel the same. :(

So we weren't the only ones walking around in the snow looking for the venue. We got directions from the hotel that was slightly wrong. I turned out that if we had taken a turn to right instead of left we would have been only 200 meters from the venue.. Instead we walked in the wrong direction for 20 minutes.. But thanks to a nice cab driver in Birmingham that stopped to pick up two lost Norwegians we got their in time.. We payed him well for that trip.. I think he got more than a 100% tip from us..
