Hey, for anyone coming into Detroit the night before the show, Flogging Molly is playing at The Filmore in downtown Detroit on 3/3/11 with Moneybrother and The Drowning Men.

welcome to the raft! be ready to be groped by complete strangers, smiled at randomly, wrapped in strange arms, and singing along drunkenly to some great music!

I'm sold. Count me in. Not so much on the groping (unless I'm doing it) but the rest sounds good!

I've just emailed by cousin Joanie about hotels for Terminal 5 area. She's a travel agent. I've asked her if she finds a decent one, if she could get some kind of group/discounted rate that some of you other guys might be able to take advantage of. No idea how that will go down of course but there's no harm in asking. I'll let you know.

The area is largely warehouses... not much over there. Wherever you stay you will ikely need to take a taxi, public transport, or walk.

assumiong the shows end around the 11/1130 range, how easy/hard is it to back to the jersey side of things from the terminal 5 area?

We're going to meet up at St. Andrews http://www.standrewsnyc.com/
We walked to the Roseland from there last time but we can check with the homies to see if we'll need a taxi for Terminal 5. Mr. Joyce? anyone? anyone?

Dave81, have you decided?

There's a Holiday Inn at 440 West 57th Street, which is quite close to Terminal 5 (between 9th and 10th Avenues - Terminal 5 is at 56th and 11th). It is about three-tenths of a mile away. I've not stayed there in over twenty years, so not sure how nice it is these days.

St. Andrews to Terminal 5 is 1.25 miles. Definitely walkable, depending on weather and motivation. Good call on St. Andrews - was it 3 years ago we all met up there?

As for cabs after the show, it should be no problem - just walk up to 57th Street, and there should be plenty.

"assumiong the shows end around the 11/1130 range, how easy/hard is it to back to the jersey side of things from the terminal 5 area?"

Every time I've seen the Pogues in NYC we've always stayed in New Jersey (Super 8 North Bergen) and never had a problem getting back after the show and postgame pint. NJ transit usually runs hourly until well after 1:00am from the bus terminal at 8th and 42nd. About a 15 minute walk? Someone from NYC would probably be able to help you better though. Have fun, I'm gonna miss not being in New York this year, but Detroit is just so damn closer! :)
