If you're from out of town and down want the walk, just take a taxi. It's really not that expensive and I dont think you want to try and figure out a subway for such a short distance. I'm originally from NYC and know the system inside and out, but many people find it very confusing.

Driving in to Terminal 5 is easy since it's right off the Westside Highway, just turn on the 56th and you're there. There's parking across the street from T5 but prepare for pricier rate. You can always find parking prices & garages at http://nyc.bestparking.com

Not a fan of Terminal 5 either, the sight lines are tough and sound isn't the greatest (just ask Terry Hall about that when the Specials played there in April haha), but I'd see the Pogues anywhere when they come to NYC so can't really bitch too much.

I always walk it from 51st to Hell's Kitchen but then I walk everywhere which is why I end up with a gait like one Ratso Rizzo by the end. I'm walkin' here!" Shoes are murder. We don't wear them where I come from.

If Travelocity fails you then you can contact me privately. I'll be happy to point you toward the proper people.

Got two tickets for 3/17 in New York! Really looking forward to seeing the Pogues for the first time - although I'm not really sure what I'm in for on "St. Jimmy's Day." Unfortunately, I don't think any of my friends care about the band as much as I do, so I'm not sure who I'll be going with. (First post)

welcome to the raft! be ready to be groped by complete strangers, smiled at randomly, wrapped in strange arms, and singing along drunkenly to some great music!

In terms of nearby bars, there is not much that I know of very close. McGee's is at 55th and 8th/B'way, Druid's is 51st and 10th, DJ Reynolds at 57th/9th. I'll vouch for all of those.[/quote]

Are these bars quite close. Dont want to find my way to terminal 5 and then get lost again ha ha. We only fly in at two o clock so I wont have a clue. Decided on a taxi to terminal five

They are all in the half-mile range, or a little less. Maybe take the taxi to one of these places, and wander a bit. There are a ton of bars on 8th and 9th Avenues between 50th and 57th Streets, but there is very little on 10th Avenue, and nothing on 11th Avenue that I know of. Unless you want to get a transmission fixed, or get your your car washed.
