I'm not looking forward to the cold weather. It's been mid 70's to 80's for the last few weeks in FL. Frost this morning though. Better dig the warm clothes back out!

Are we talking about St. Andrews on 44th?? Would be cool to hang with a bunch of Pogu'ers before the show on Cagney Day. (Longtime fan, 1st time concert goer coming in from PA...)

Medusans, this brings up a good point. St. Andrews on 44th was where we all met up 3 years ago. Whilst the owners still own that property, we will have our St. Jimmy's meetup at the NEW one on 46th http://www.standrewsnyc.com/

I hope it will be as intimate.... Note to new people joining us: we (I?) intentionally selected a Scottish pub because the sheer insanity of an Irish or Irish themed venue on the 17th is not worth it. We might (and I stress MIGHT) even be able to have a decent conversation. You have been fairly advised...if you want to get all shittered and sloppy you have your pick of many other places.

Just saw this post. Will PM you.

I don't think I've ever had that. After every show, there's usually a good few days of constantly thinking, "Yay! I've seen The Pogues!" And being very excited and cheery. A sort of natural high?

That's a good approach :D I know of a few others who have the Pogues come down, Phro37 I believe has had it in the past. I'm going to take a leaf out of your book and see if it works for me!

For some reason, I'm getting the "come down" ahead of the show -- not sure how to handle approaching the last? No real worries, once I pack I'll get back into it. Which reminds me, I really don't want to pack my docs. If I wear my Vibram fivefingers for the show, will my feet get broken?

Sounds like the docs would be the best bet! I'm procrastinating on the packing for some reason, stupid of me! Just printed the boarding passes. One way I'll beat the pre/after show come down is by remembering these fine words of a song you may have heard once or twice before:

"Oh the words that he spoke
Seemed the wisest of philosophies
There's nothing ever gained
By a wet thing called a tear
When the world is too dark
And I need the light inside of me
I'll go into a bar and drink
Fifteen pints of beer"

Hah! Sound advice for us all! :)

Me, I don't mind wallowing for a while in the sweet after-show melancholy, 'specially this time of year, spring is just around the corner, another fucking cold gray winter finally ending... Plus, am I the only one who finds much of the Pogues music beautifully and irresistibly sad? Sure, Dingle/Murshin/Repeal/etc/etc make me and my kiddies grin like idiots and dance like fools... But goddamnit, half the time I have to skip over Kitty or Broad Majestic Shannon for fear of tearing up at an inopportune moment. The Pogues are like a powerful mood de-stabilizer and I am an addict :)
