Bubbo it looks like we're in the same boat-from Montreal myself and never been to that venue, but heard all kinds of abominable stuff about the 2nd floor mezz, that unless you're hugging the railings then you can forget about seeing anything. I'm 6'5 though so I should be fine

I hope that you're wrong... but I'm tall too, I haven't had any problem at concerts. It's going to be a great night, I'm sure about that!
I'm going to the friday show. Are we meeting at McGreevy's?

Does anyone have some advice as to good bars in the area for before/after the show on Wednesday?

easiest is Duffy's http://www.duffysdc.com/

you can see 9:30 Club from the front door
nothing fancy, but they've got beer & some decent food. and very close by!
without music, I'd be dead.

Not much getting done around here. I'm too excited about the show.

Not very productive myself at the moment... But for me it is a distracting residual buzz from Detroit four day ago plus a slight melancholy that it is over. Normal life seems pitched pretty flat after seeing one's favorite band live after all these years.

Thanks and curses to all who have posted vids over the past few days! Thanks for priming me for next week's show here in NY, and curses for making me even more preoccupied with the idea. It's all I can think about! Am I alone in this form of OCD? To say that I can't wait doesn't state it strongly enough. It'll be a blurry week, indeed -- Pogues on the 16th, and god knows what will follow the next day!

Welcome to Medusa, kege. You are in good company here. What follows the 16th? The parade, and more Pogues. :D

Thanks for the welcome fellow Texan (I'm a displaced Texan originally from Brownsville). Really not sure what's in store for the 17th, but it'll surely entail -- what shall we call it -- a "liquidation of assets".

I guess it's good that you decided to go to Terminal 5 instead of the Roseland Ballroom.

The Roseland Ballroom is on fire tonight
http://gothamist.com/2011/03/08/breakin ... n_fire.php

Breaking: Roseland Ballroom On Fire!

At about 10:40 p.m. we received word of a 2nd Alarm at 239 W 52nd Street and 8th Avenue, better known as Roseland Ballroom. A live scanner feed confirmed, and according to reports we're getting over the newswire Con Ed has been requested to the scene. The NYScanner Twitter described the fire as "heavy," and EmergencyStream says it's on the mezzanine level.

One woman nearby Tweeted: "Big fire at the Roseland ballroom across the street! So many fire trucks... the street is all lit up!" There were no shows scheduled at the venue tonight.

Ahhh yes, the old Pogues come down. It's bad. I'm already dreading it! The only good thing is, that after the show, I get to spend four days with my sister who I have only seen once (for a very brief visit) in the last 20 years! So we have some fun and catching up to do. That will help. You'll be alright soon enough I hope..have a few drinks at the weekend and start planning a trip to the summer time festivals!

I don't think I've ever had that. After every show, there's usually a good few days of constantly thinking, "Yay! I've seen The Pogues!" And being very excited and cheery. A sort of natural high?

The Roseland will be fine. Though I'm not sure how(or if) it will affect the Dropkick Murphys shows there this weekend.

That's a good approach :D I know of a few others who have the Pogues come down, Phro37 I believe has had it in the past. I'm going to take a leaf out of your book and see if it works for me!
