Hi !

Why is the tour called "Parting Glass" ? Don't you sing that song at the end of a gathering of friends ? Does that mean it is the last US Tour for The Pogues ? First the "Farewell Tour" in the UK and Ireland now "The Parting Glass" ?
Is that another hint of a possible break up of The Pogues ?

See ya in NYC

Well, yes and no. The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem sang "The Parting Glass" for many years before they became just a memory.

i pre-ordered for the 17th and haven't gotten anything, either. there are a few of us that are planning a class action lawsuit if we don't get them in time for the show. we're asking for $2mil each but we'll be willing to settle out of court. depending on who you're asking, we want carbonated guinness, cat sitters, geese, "the closet republicans guide to just coming out already," fancy ties and/or shoes, $$$ for sound ordinance violations in japan, back braces, some sort of "for this tour shane is in/out" sign on the homepage so people stop asking, a yellow face tongue sticking out smiley ( :? ), chinaski, more shopping done through http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0017XFBMG/?tag=thpointhwaoft-20, forgiveness for various indiscretions (*cough*), and a plethora of substances and medications to be handed out indescriminately with little to no judgement being passed. we're a colorful bunch..... oh, and black cherry fresca

I preordered my ticket, and am not expecting it until about 10 days before the show. That's how it worked out in '08.

This is from the screen I printed when I bought my ticket:

"For events that are Will Call, you will be able to pick up your tickets the night of the show at the venue by showing an ID. For events that offer mail, you should receive your tickets one week prior to the event. If you have not received your tickets, please contact our ticket hotline at (212) 420-8500 or email info@artistsarena.com."

The only delivery option for 3/17 was by mail.

Phro, if you won't be home when your tickets arrive you could have someone overnight them to me. I'll be in NYC as of Wednesday.

Can't Wait!!! See everyone at St. Andrews!

Edit: Sorry to throw cold water on the class action suit, I was kind of looking forward to some of the concessions.

Will the occasion be marked on the 17th by a change to the lyrics of Sally Mac' to "Well St Jimmy played harmonica in the pub where I was born"?

YEEEESSSS!!!!!!. Myself and my mate Dave (who ain't my significant other) are heading across the pond. Only booked the flights yesterday cos he got the thumbs up we could use his bosses place for nowt if he does a bit of maintenance on it while we're there.

So happy days.... except does anyone if the box office are contactable to put tickets by for collection on the night as I cant afford them just yet and it would be typical they could sell out meantime. I have checked the website but it doesnt appear that you can contact terminal 5 direct.

Will feel much happier when I know I can definately get to the gigs though

Maybe we should wear our fancy hats to St. Andrews so the others can recognize us! Do you think DzM will be allowed in shirtless if his hat is fancy enough?

I think you just have to bite the bullet and buy. We have no choice but to go the 'will call' option so we buy, then travel three and a half thousand miles to pick up on the door on the night (you guys who panic about ten days before can consider that i'll be having my pre gig beers BEFORE i have my ticket!!!).

We bought our gig tickets before i checked i could get the days off, before Vicki checked she could get the days off, before we checked flights, before we checked hotels and before we checked we could afford it.

Get a six week loan for the ticket price, the interest will be less than the price of a chilli dog and you will have secure tickets, with your name on, that nobody else can bag without having your face and id, all waiting for you.

St Andrews in NYC on the 17th, is it?

Pogues fans jetting in from the rest of the world to meld into a Medusan melange of magical musical meeting madness?

DzM shirtless? And perhaps in a funny hat?

Brisk evening walk to Terminal 5?

And oh yeah, a rock show of some kind?

Yep, those are the makings of a memorable night, alright.
