Wait. ~110 miles (~177k?)? Seriously? People are whinging about having to travel 100 miles? I'm driving that far tomorrow morning for a job interview. And if I get the job I'll be traveling that distance nearly every day.

I always forget how small the distances are there.

But we are all so much tinier than you lot over there! It takes us ages to get anywhere in our tiny cars or our clapped-out railway system!

Just checked on gurgle maps and from door to door it's 104 miles from here to Birmingham Academy and 61.9 miles to Brixton. Those are the two closest venues to here that The Pogues have played since the reunion. Actually I've just clicked again and the distance to Brixton Academy has gone down to 61.8 miles. If I keep on clicking between now and December, will it keep getting closer?

Few of us are lucky enough to get to see The Pogues in our home town. But if you can possibly do it, it's always worth the effort to travel. You will have the best night, and you will not regret it. But you'll always regret it if you don't go.

I'm afraid that's the way it is over here these days, Duke. It's all the fault of the baxtard ConDem coalition austerity government and all the cuts.

I will never forget the trip from DC to the (so far one and only) show in Philadelphia in the spring snow/ice storm. A drive that would normally take at most two hours took eight. We arrived just as the doors opened (having our plans to visit a few bars beforehand shot). After the show (where the venue ran out of Guinness  ), the car was buried and the scraper in the trunk. We had clear it off with our hands and a plastic cup. As I was not the designated driver, I was throughly loaded and slept all the way home, but reportedly, it was not nearly as bad as the way up.

Is this really the "Farewell" tour? I've been to see them every year at brixton since they reformed but was gonna give it a miss this year cos I have loads on that week but if its the last time to see them i think it has got to be done again.

You see, that's why it was called "Farewell" tour. It works obviously ;)
