Mr. C, I know Shane doesn't care for it, but since this might be the last Xmas tour, is there a chance one of the shows could be filmed so we'd have something to look forward to in December in future years? Pretty please :D

Shane thinks concert films can be made in near-darkness, all moody like. Apparently, they can't.

Last year The Pogues played three nights at the Olympia. The Friday show which, which I attended, was full. I didn't go on Saturday but, people I trust, tell me that show was sold out. I made the final show on Sunday and that was far from sold out. If I remember correctly, MCD were offering reduced admission to fans who could produce ticket stubs from the previous night(s). Perhaps, based on that experience, MCD may be waiting to see how sales for the first Olympia date go before announcing the second show.

I also wonder whether the Killarney show will impact on ticket sales for Dublin. I'd guess many fans from outside Dublin would prefer to see The Pogues on a Saturday night in Killarney than a weeknight in Dublin. I'll be interested to see which destination the fans from the North/North West of the country favour.

As a long-time fan of all things Pogue I hope the shows go well and the band gets the crowds they deserve. That said, maybe the ticket prices for the Irish leg of the tour will be too expensive for many fans. Depending on your method of purchase the tickets are almost €50.00 a throw. In a country ravaged by recession that could be more than many can afford, particularly less committed fans than those who post here.

Before people start shooting me down I realise that (a) The Pogues aren't a charity and (b) Band, management, and crew need to make a living.

I was at the Saturday gig last year it was sold out. I had thought the Sunday was sold out too?? MCD did the same bullshit last year and do it for pretty much all artists doing multiple nights- as in even though we know they are booked for 2/3 nights, they only announce the least desirable night first to sell that out, and then "due to phenomenal demand" they then announce the more attractive night and start selling that. Really annoying.

Anyway I suppose I will be going on the Thursday, its a pity theres no weekend night gig in Dublin, I would think that will put people out more than the price (werent they expensive last year aswell?). I checked the Olmypia and none other then the coronas  have it booked on the Friday, so no chance of a Friday gig unforuntately, and obviously Killarney Saturday. No chance ill be able to work the day after a pogues gig so thatll mean a day off on the run up to christmas, not ideal, last year on the Saturday there was 7 of us went and had the time of our lives, now due to the weeknight situaton there'll only be 2 or 3 of us.

Anyway, 'least its finally here.. bring it on.

Yeah, I was suspecting that MCD will announce the second date eventually due to overwhelming demand or something like that, but not wanting to take any chances I booked the Wednesday anyway, so I guess their ploy works. :p

Tickets bought for the 8th at the Olympia for myself, my wife and my dad, roll on the 8th, can't wait!!
Haven't missed a gig since ye started touring again, wishing ye all the best with the gigs. Don't leave it too long until ye return, would be lost without The Pogues!!!

Hi everyone,

A question about Killarney's gig : I'm trying to buy "standing" tickets but the site proposes only seats. Will there be only seats for this concert?

Phro, you will have a blast! In my never ending quest to become the "person who has seen the Pogues in more cities than anyone" I saw them in Belfast and Leeds. It is amazingly fun to go to another country to experience your favorite band, meet other Medusans and "drink in" ambiance. I am full of jealous 8)

oh i totally agree! i've seen them in dublin, san fran, vegas, london, dublin again, austin, and dallas! (i'll be hitting the east coast, too, if they come back in march). got to meet a few medusans here and there, too: territa a few months before the texas shows, mr. and mrs. cadillac and the little cadillacs in austin and dallas (missed lilcupcakes by a few minutes in austin), and georgecat in dublin (she was even kind enough to give me an extra backstage pass and i got to meet james!). i tried meeting up with the swedes at the canturbury arms in london two years ago but couldn't find them.... maybe this year. i'd love to find myself in a "medusan fan" pic with them.

Looks like we´re going to Dublin and Kilarney this year but nothing booked yet. I think we never made it to The Canterbury that night, it was probably packed and we had our pints at The Beehive insted.

No worries. I walked around for a while asking every group of guys if they were Swedish or had overheard a group that was. Ended up making friends with a bar owner and her husband. Drank for free all night! Please let me know when you all fnd out your plans. Id love to meet up.

Also I'm considering adding Glasgow to the list! My semester ends early enough!
