So it means no German gigs, doesnt it? Would like to hear something from Philip now. Though his silence is more expressive than any "sorry, guys".
Good to have much more talkative (and less finical) Spider around, he seems doesnt mind to bring bad news.

If you read page one of this thread, Philip actually stated that they were only looking into the possibility of playing some gigs in Germany. He never said that they definitely were.

Agreed Heather, but do you agree the quote from the MS page is a little condesending to the fans?

I don't really understand what you mean by condesending, please explain.

Its not condesending at all. Offers probably do come and go and yes they will come when their ready??? Whats the problem. I know this has been said before but how many bands would even interact with their fans in the first place on stuff like this????

My thoughts exactly, Rich, I still would like NJR to answer my question.

Keep Cool. Mr. Chevron said that it might be a POSSIBILITY, but he never confirmed it. It would however be BRILLIANT because I live in Germany ;-) I saw the Pogues only once yet, in December 09 and I'd love to see them again...such an amazing show

Yeah...let's wait and see what happens !! Phil just said what is fact: Bands get offers - and nothing's decided til it's decided... Thanks for keeping us updated, by the way !!

...it's good that there is so much fan interest in a Pogues gig in Germany - promoters should visit this forum more often !!

Keeping fingers crossed !!

Which is only 4km from my place. Not yet sure, if I can make it. But I hope I will.

Heather, sorry I was out for the day after my last post yesterday.

The exact quote is ......
"From the Pogues official Myspace:
Regardless of what some German newspapers are saying we are not booked to play any shows in Europe at this time. Offers come and offers go. When we are ready we will come."

As I posted earlier, maybe I'm overly sensative? I'm not looking to make this a big deal. I was asking if anyone felt the same way I do. When I read the quote the first time I felt quite dismayed.
I preface again as this is only my opinion. Some say opinions are like .... well you know, everyone has one. I feel the writer has a chip on his shoulder. I took the statement as ....."yes we know you want to see us, we get so many offers we can play anywhere, at anytime and we know you'll come out and fill the venues. Don't get your hopes up for anything anytime soon. When I'm good and ready I'll grace you with my presence."

Now this opinion wasn't formed on just the statement posted here. As I visit the page often along with others, it's what I see as a tone through out the bulk of the posters comments. What wasn't posted here was another post on the MS page where a fan asked the band to "Come back to the States, Please" The comment to this was "I'm beginning to feel a bit more ready" Seeming to make this a singular decision, and hesitation rather then a collective one. Again just my opinion. I could post twenty more comments that to me seem to have an egde to them.
I mean after all there are fans that are hanging on every post hoping that summer tour dates will be announced, I see them everyday. I can see how you might not read as much into the comment. All I'm saying is maybe the poster could be a bit less flipant. I fully accept that this may be more my issue then any other fans as not everyone may not be as cynical as I am.

Look, I've loved Spider for all his foibles and attributes for nearly 30 years now. It's not always been smooth but it is the overwhelming majority of the time. I daresay he would have a comparable remark to deliver about me. He shoots from the hip. It's no biggie, honestly. 8)

If i've read my books about The Pogues right, it's exactly this quality that had him bounced from singer to whistle player.

Philip, Joey called me at work this afternoon. He told me about some confirmed dates, such as Muenster late July/early August. Do you know any details?

don't expect to much folks, last year around that time there was a rumor about a gig at Museumsplatz, Bonn...
until there's nothing on the frontpage, I take it as a no-show.

Hi Ingrid

i don't wish to confirm anything until we know for sure. Things change right up to the last minute, as you know. One of the band's many daughters is getting married around the same time, so we're having to juggle things a bit.

It's only a no-show if it's a contracted booking and you don't show up.

Otherwise it's a "no-show no-show" noone could blame you for, right ?!

Keeping fingers crossed anyway...
