Fair play to Mrs Mike who has agreed that an appropriate way to celebrate 20 years together is a weekend in Dublin seeing the Pogues. In fact I think the Pogues were one of the first gigs we went to way back then. How time flies.........

Me too! The first gig me and the future Mrs. McGreer went to together was Town and Country March '88. Oh the innocence of it all

yup, I remember the first time i checked out her record collection- an important element of any relationship. I was feeling decidedly unimpressed, until I discovered Rum, Sodomy etc.

Next best was the proclaimers 8)

or should that be the proclaimers 8) 8)

Getting there in the afternoon - travelling back on first plane in the morning - no hotel expense = more money for the boozer !!!

Me too, but on the saturday. Getting in early afternoon, returning on the 7am flight on sunday morning... paid a total of £20 all in. Would feel guilty about the environment but I rarely fly anyway.

Dublin Airport is a crappy place to sleep - the last time I was woken up by the gardai at 3am (although I was wearing a german army trenchcoat at the time). Hopefully will find something to do in town after the gig.

If I take the tube to Brixton station, can I walk to Brixton Academy? How far between the two?

Many thanks Philip, we're crossing the pond from Chicago, staying at the Premier Inn next to the London Eye, we will spend a few days before the show soaking up what I've read is the spectacular scene in London at Xmas time. We missed you very much in Belfast last Xmas, last time we saw you was at the Congress "dump" in Chicago (worst venue ever) dancing up a storm, before both you and my wife got sick, you're both healthy so that's absolutely brilliant!

Olympia Theatre question: Where to get tickets - standing, lower seats, upper seats? Looking to be in a place to really enjoy the show with good sightlines without a lot of pushing and shoving. Thanks

Try to get the front of the first balcony. It's usually called the Dress Circle in UK/Eire theatres, but it may be called something like Grand Circle at the Olympia.

Circle (lower seats) for unreserved seating (EDIT: just checked and the lower circle is reserved seating and they're now offering row D). Or stand in front of the sound desk downstairs. No pushing and a brilliant view because it's a sloped floor (unless your below average height).

Got my standing ticket. Hoping for LOTS of pushing and shoving down the front. I'm too old for this

MCD are obviously playing the "Oh look, they're so popular we've had to add another show" game. Can't be helped. That's showbiz folks. Take comfort from the fact that outside of Medusa, no one knows this!

Because of the ÜBERBRILLIANT concert in Drammen, Norway, we just have to go to Dublin for the three gigs! Tickets for Friday in the box, as we say in Norway. It's going to be faens tastisk! Ay, ay and ay!

Anyone else from Scandinavia going over?

I may as well be the first to break the silence.........

London
£66 (about 75 euro) for two seating tickets. £30 ticket (about 35 euro), £3 service charge (3.50 euro)

Dublin
Fuck..... 122.30 euro for two seating tickets. Unfortunately my friends won't be attending their first Pogues' show. :(

54.80 for the ticket

6.35 PER TICKET service charge :x

I read an interview with Pearl Jam today. They tried to organise a boycott of ticketmaster some years back but were met with silence from the industry and their peers.

I know this is probably outside the band's control (or at least i hope it is) but come on, there's a recession don't ya know.

If you count Finland as part of Scandinavia, then yes, I am. Don't have tickets yet though, still waiting Ticketmaster to open that Saturday's gig in Dublin... nerve wrecking!

Patience is a virtue.
