Guys,

Tell your roadies to ALWAYS provide Shane with a seat on stage from now on. A stool with a back would be nice, much better than a box usually used for shipping your amps, but, the box worked okay this time around. Seeing the rest of the band utilize the box and relax and sit by Shane's side during certain numbers also worked well.

That "falling over" business on Saturday night was amusing the first time, scary the second and pathetic the third. Had he had a seat (like they FINALLY provided after three falls) from the get-go, perhaps he'd have made it all the way through the show. The band, as always was superb, thanks, Spider for carrying on, and thanks, Mr. Chevron for the best number of the night, "Thousands are Sailing..."

I must say that I'm very excited about the Denver show. I've flown to SF twice to see you guys and saw Shane and the Popes when they came through a few years back. It's going to be great, thanks for coming our way!

Dave

I've one you can have gratis.
Don't know how much that helps.

Thanks for the offer, however with 2 small children I would need 4 reserved seats. Another lucky fan should swoop in on this opportunity...

I've got 4 extra Gen. Adm. tickets to the KC show if you or someone else wants them (priced below face value). I'll be there but got ahold of some tickets to the "Samsung Loge" through a friend. Let me know 'cause I'm planning to throw them on craigslist otherwise.

WOW, thanks for the generous offer, however we are all set for the KC show. Better throw them on Craigslist. Keep an eye out for us we will be the ones with 2 little blond girls.

Pub Purveyor wrote:If anyone is staying up at the airport, and if they arrive a day early, I'd suggest visiting O'Malley's pub in Weston, MO. It's about 25 miles from downtown and about 12 miles northwest of the airport but it's the best pub I've ever frequented and that includes some very nice places in NYC, Philly, StL, Savannah (Kevin Barry's is great), LA and Denver - never been to Boston yet so I hesitate to call O'Malley's the best pub in the US. Anyway, it's in an old brewery that's probably 120 years old (they make their own beers there) and the best section is almost 60' underground - live music on Fridays and Saturdays, and they're great hosts. So much for plugging my favorite watering hole - if anyone wants to meet up before or after, say where and I'll pick up a round.

Jim

Ditto to this- O'Malley's is an amazing pub; 50+ feet underground in 1840's era brewery cellars. Worth the visit if you are in town. Looks like Ellis Island (http://www.ellisislandmusic.com/), a traditional style Irish band out of Omaha is scheduled for Saturday night. Check out the website at http://westonirish.com/

I have 3 tickets to the Kansas City show this Sunday that I won't be able to use. I'm open as far as pricing goes. Email me at wissinst@slu.edu if you're interested. The tickets are in the front middle of the lowest balcony.

Need to find a home for those KC tickets. Here's a link of what the venue looks like.

I just noticed that Celtic Thunder (or something like that) will be at the same venue two nights later. That's some kind of strange ironic travesty as far as I'm concerned. On a brighter note, the Cranberries will be at the same place in late November (I'm also seeing Leonard Cohen there in a couple of weeks). Here's raising a glass to a great KC weekend.

I'm a pretty regular attendee of the Weston Irish Fest (2nd Weekend in Oct) and this band was one of the ones I had the pleasure to see. I've seen them several times and they're always entertaining - in a trad. sort of way. At the show two weeks ago, they closed with Sally McC. and the cellar (the lowest level of the O'Malley's venue) went ape. I'm sure these lads would give a stalwart performance (not to mention drinking O'Malley's fresh brewed beer) on behalf of any visitors that might be in town for the Sunday show. Can be a hard place to find (small riverfront town - just outside the metro, but close to the airport). If anyone can make it up to this wonderful pub, you'll be glad you did.

I was so glad to hear the Pogues would be part of this year's Voodoo lineup in New Orleans. On the website they posted about a month ago it stated the boys would play on Sunday but the specific schedule was not up...

Just checked now and it is and I'm a bit dismayed...hitting the stage at 2:15 for only an hour? At least that's how it looks. They're playing the Playstation/Billboard.com stage which is the other full size stage opposite the Voodoo main stage. Basically a band plays on one of those two stages and when they end, the next band immediately appears at the other end of the race track on the other stage. So the Pogues get 1 hour, then Widespread Panic hits the Voodoo stage at 3:15 for a scheduled TWO AND A HALF HOURS!!

Even worse, the amazingly gorgeous burlesque beauties of Fleur De Tease are in the Bingo Parlor while the Pogues are on.

I know I can't complain...I'll be sure to catch at least two of the NY shows when they hit the big apple in March (this has become a much looked forward to annual treat!), but this short set will have to serve as a Pogue De Tease it seems.

Mr. Chevron, is there any chance you'll do a signing in the Temporary FYE store they're setting up on site before/after your gig? One can dream...

PS - for anyone doing all three days of Voodoo, on saturday be sure to check out the Zydepunks for a very poguesque great time!

Hey! Spare a thought for those of us who were hoping to catch Shooter Jennings, who's playing at exactly the same time as us!

Welcome to Kansas City. I hope it was a pleasant flight and that you have an opportunity to take in some of the city on this beautiful Saturday. Looking forward to the show tomorrow night though a local band called the Kelihan's did quite a few covers of your music last night at O'Malley's pub in Weston, MO (including Transmetropolitan) so that was a nice primer for the weekend. Again, welcome to Kansas City and have a great stay.

Phil, when are you coming to SCRANTON, PA. We have the second largest St Patricks parade in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and everyone knows that Scranton is groundzero for Pogues fans and because of me everyone at my college now loves the Pogues
