Shane for me was at his best with the popes but I wasn't around to appreciate the early pogues days. I think everyone knows the hard drugs he was taking late nineties early noughties what with the whole sack joey c campaign and the sinead o connor incident and all that. I think that and the raging alcoholism has finally caught up with him unfortunately. He's had a good stretch and he's probably knackered and deserves to chill the beans now in Dublin with Victoria. Sad to see but I doubt he'd change a thing. What a career, what a life, what a lunatic.

Good man Deisecelt, ever the pessimist
Sounds like a obituary. You could have written the same after Pinklepop in 94 with the Popes. Yes he was shite in France but let's see what happens in the future.

Knowing the history as we all do I find it better to enjoy what we have. Like all performers Shane has highs and lows, good shows and bad, but what's the alternative? No Pogues shows. Sorry I'll take Shane the way he is verses the later.

I'm an alcoholic myself, so don't misunderstand my post. And I'm probably the biggest Shane-fan ever...but looking at the recent live videos, he doesn't seem to enjoy it anymore...that's what I'm concerned about.

Well, that's no fun. Try and beat that, is what I'd say is the best thing to do.
