What time were the band on last night please?

The listing said 8.45, but in fact it was around 9.15. Which is more normal.
Likes the warm feeling but is tired of all the dehydration.

First Pogues concert for us last night (Thursday 19th December). Brilliant experience but terrifying at times for my wife; we didn't realise everyone danced and drank simultaneously near the front of the stage. The band came on at about 21.15 and played through Rum, Sodomy and the Lash with Fairy Tale of New York near the end. Shane McGowan was on stage for much of the performance, with a cigarette in his left hand, replenished from time to time by his PA. His legs looked weak but his voice was awesome. The music and musicianship were superb, however our main memories will be about the people who surrounded us. I have some personal messages for them. To the guy who spilt a pint of Guinness down my back: What a waste. Lend me £10 and I'll buy you another drink. To the beautiful girl with a reindeer tattooed between her shoulder blades: Very seasonal. Merry Christmas. To the man with glasses who chain smoked throughout the performance: Don't, you're setting Shane a bad example. To the huge guy who inadvertently sent my wife spinning to the floor: Please don't ever consider entering for Strictly Come Dancing. To the same huge man who also trod on my foot: Please stop worrying. It's only bruising, no fractures. A glittering future awaits you in rugby or Sumo wrestling. To the charming Irishman who helped my wife to safety: God bless you sir, hope to see you again next time we come to a Pogues concert.

Excellent first post - the "personal messages" really made me smile. Seriously, I hope your wife is OK and enjoyed the evening despite everything.

Thanks John. Yes, it was a fantastic experience for both of us. The atmosphere was electric; pure adrenaline from beginning to end. We're always up for something completely different. My wife is fine. But we may keep closer to the back next time we do the Pogues. Our main worry is that there may not be a next time. Shane McGowan's health is obviously not good and he may decide to retire soon. Compliments of the season, sir.

On that basis, Dave, we might get another quarter century out of him...

Had a couple of pints earlier and the barmaid in my local also works in the Canterbury told me that 3 people showed up in the Canterbury on Saturday night thinking the gig was then. One had travelled from Australia especially. Apparently they were devastated (understandably).

Still buzzing from Friday night.
I like life.

It gives me something to do.

.... 19th December .... 21:15h ... pogo starts ... after 1h45m ... the fiesta stopped ... sweating like pigs ... lucky like a baby ...

There is nothing left to say and I also have no words to describe what happened - you need to be there to feel it, see it, get it, ...
Thanks for this fairytale in London, the big party, the great songs....

I was happy to see that people also helped each other when someone falls down while "dancing"...

PS: Special thx to M. and Barny for the idea and organisation joining this "christmas party" in Brixton Acadamy ...
