Right, if you don't ask, you won't get, so here goes...

Hello Philip,

I hope that all is well and you're still in good health. Here is a big favour request. My name is Declan Duffy, I'm in a London band called The Stan Sermons and I'm writing to ask if there's any way you might consider us for a support slot on the tour you have planned for December, or any shows you're doing at all. We all love the band, have always wanted a chance to play at a show of yours, and if you could see your way to helping us out we'd be incredibly grateful to you. We're an experienced gigging band having played at The Cavern in Liverpool, plenty of London venues and shows in Memphis and Nashville, and we're also playing at both a Shaun Ryder DJ night and Primal Scream aftershow party - we wouldn't let you down. Please have a listen to us here and let me know whether you might want to put us on: www. myspace. com/thestansermons Any of the rest of you are welcome to have a listen, too.

Thanks a lot, and good luck.

Declan

Declan, Spider Stacy deals with these things really, and I don't often get involved as he does such a great job. Normally, one would get some sort of demo to him via our office in Stockport. I rather think you may have missed the boat for this year, but I don't know this for certain. Good luck with the band. Sounds refreshing.

Philip,

Thanks very much for taking the time to reply. I'll get on to the office and hope I'm in time.

Good luck and good health to you,

Declan

I tell you what, if that guy's band gets famous anytime, I know for certain he'll remember the time Philip Chevron took the time to respond to a spectulative enquiry from a band he'd never heard of (presumably). Phil, you're a gentleman, and Declan, I look forward to seeing you guys supporting The Pogues in years to come. (Seriously readers, they might be fuckin' ace...)
