Haven't checked these forums in a while but was pleased to see that our man Philip has recovered. Congratulations!

While I am delighted to be in the Recovery column, and thrilled to be cancer-free at the moment, it is still very much an ongoing process and "recovered" is a milestone not yet reached. I do still suffer from secondary infections, as my immune system took a bit of a beating; I am still very much in the early stages of learning how to swallow and eat again; I get fatigued easily and I may have permanently harmed my voice by using it prematurely on the March dates in the USA. My future as an active member of The Pogues is liable to be fitful for a while longer: I am almost certain to play the summer festivals booked in July and August, but for longer hauls later in the year, it may be necessary to send in the deputy.

Nobody will be sadder than I if this turns out to be the case, but the internal flights in Oz (it takes me longer to recover from travel than from an actual show) are looking prohibitive.

It's a long haul over here and you also have a long haul with your recovery. You stay put and keep up your strength, I'm still hoping and hoping to be able to come over and visit my Irishbookish sis, and I would definitely make it coincide with a Pogues gig!

I kind of suspected this for a while, because of what I've read here and listening to the RTE interview.

Anyway, best of luck from me, too.
