Courage, Phillip.

Be strong and be well. I certainly hope you are through the worst of it, and recovery is now imminant. We all believe in your resilliancy.

Stay strong Philip. I've lived with several family members who have gone through what you are currently going through, and as long as you keep your sanity and sense of humour (no small feat) there is light at the end of the tunnel. We're pulling for you!

I'm curious if you have ever considered contacting John Prine? He has survived throat cancer and has come back as strong as ever. He's still touring, although I have heard him say that he had to learn to sing his songs again in a different key. He has taken it in stride, seeing the change as bringing new life to his songs.

The unquestioning love that people around the world feel for you, Philip, is stronger than any drug medical science pumps into you.

Oh, ARGH, Philip -- I haven't been around much lately and somehow even in my infrequent visits, I completely missed this thread until today. :(

I'm so sorry to hear about this. My mom just battled cancer earlier in the year -- sounds like hers was not as advanced as yours, but I still have some idea of what it's like. Not fun, for you or for those who love you.

If I were a praying man, you'd be in my prayers, but as it is, I'll just send positive thoughtbeams your way.

Upon reading that I just wanted to say that I was very moved by it and the thought of what you are going through, Philip.

But nothing moves me more than your great strength in dealing with it all, and your honesty about how you're feeling, which I imagine would take more than a bit of strength to put into words as well.

As ever, we're all thinking about you and hoping you will be feeling a little better soon. x

All the best for your recovery Phillip.
I once met you, and various other Pogues for an unforgettable(for me anyway!!) evening after a Pogues show at the Venue, Dee Why, Sydney 1990.
Still my favourite story from my year in Australia. I would imagine heroes don´t always live up to expectations. You and the band certainly were cordial, entertaining, and fantastic company for the evening.
Best wishes from myself, and the others who were lucky enough to be present for the shows, and the good drink afterwards. Take care!!

Philip,

been viewing the forum for a while but this is my first post. Just wanted to add my support and wish you a speedy return to good health. My thoughts are with you.

On a more trivial note I hadn't realised you were a Forest fan? Having seen both league games and even though the team are missing Tyson I think with Neil Lennon my £50 on automatic promotion looks good :o)

Keep the faith

Mark, welcome to the Forum and grateful thanks for your kind wishes on the matter of my health.

I, in turn, wish good fortune to you and to your £50 but I distinctly recall having that very feeling a year ago and..... oh, and the year before also............ and the year before that......

When the People said we were "too good to down" they were not entirely consonant with the Truth, What they meant was the slog of getting back up again could only ever be relished by one Manager, the man who, ironically, had at least the good grace to step down before he destroyed everything that had brought him, his teams , and the good people of Nottingham such joy and respect. It was a sour year. It still is. I see some of the younger players around town in Midweek and keep wanting to rush up to them, grsb them by the scruff of their Armani jackets and yell "What about the team? What about the good People of Nottingham? Why not play for the Jersey [oops! hardly any of them born before even the first cup scraped its way into the Chairman's Room] and if not that, young man, then play for your mother, a lovely lady who does nor deserve to have all this nonsense about your poor recent form heaped onto her shoulders. Which reminds me, young man, I hear you're handy with a spanner? Go over to my place this evening, there's some repairs in the kitchen that Barbara wants doing before I discuss your contract............."

I miss him. Whoever gets to play him in the mooted bio-pic will, if he gets the ball in the back of the net, surely deserve that year's Oscar. Now THAT would please Cloughie no end, I feel sure. [/i]

I've heard that it is Michael Sheen who will be Mr Clough. He did a great job on Tony Blair in "The Queen" and is currently "doing" David Frost in a film about the Frost/Nixon interviews.

Well yes, I did too, but does Michael Sheen seem like a Shane Meadows (mooted Director) kind of actor to you? I'm just wondering if there are TWO Clough projects in the works?

Very sorry to hear of your troubles, Mr. Chevron. It sounds as if your spirit is intact, though, and that is the main thing innit? Very painful reading your account of therapy but also heartening. Your artistry compels you to record your suffering. Good on ye. Don't let the bastards grind you down.
F yez all.
