Their must be some link there, care to comment Philip?

I am not now, nor have I ever been, a member of the Republican Party.

Great answer.

I also want to wish you a very happy 50th. Any special plans to celebrate?

Not so far as I know. I heard a rumour that Rufus Wainwright was going to leap out of a giant cake, but that would just be silly, right?

How do they get people in cakes? Are they put inside the cake before it goes in the oven?

And not wearing that lederhosen he's been so fond of lately, I hope.

A Happy Birthday to you Philip. Close your eyes and make a wish!

Well, the leather harness is actually quite nice. Personalized with his initials and everything. Just precious, if you're into harnesses... Clearly, Mr. Wainwright put a lot of thought into that look. What a cutie.

Sorry, I was not able to arrange for a "cake surprise" however here is the link for an interview with Rufus from last week's The Henry Rollins Show and his performance of Release The Stars from the same.

Best wishes. I am mightily impressed that you read and reply to your fans here. All of ye Pogues were up there far enough in my estimation without knowledge of that fact.

Be well and enjoy yourself as you have certainly earned it. Here's to many many more happy and productive years for you!

On the recent Jonathan Ross Show appearance, I'm afraid Rufus divulged more about the etiquette of lederhosen than many of us cared to know. Apparently they are not truly your lederhosen until you have had a crap in them and not wiped properly. Then, it seems, they are truly yours and yours alone, for ever and ever, with or without the Monogram.
