When are the Radiators from Space coming to XYZ location?

Post Tue May 22, 2007 6:42 pm

When are the the Radiators going to come to North Carolina!?

I figured since I know the stock answer for the Pogues by now, the question should all least be on record for the Radiators.

The Radiators would be delighted to play in North Carolina and many other places too but nobody ever asks us to.

That's great news Philip. I'll make some arrangements to get that Friday night off and hopefully I'll see you guys there. Are there tickets going on sale in advance or will it be a pay-at-the-door affair?

Both, I suppose. Ticketmaster should have it on sale soon.

Hey, do you guys want to play in North Carolina?

Oh, you meant someone with a venue and the financial wherewithal to pull it off, didn't you? Blast. :(

Pete of The Radiators posts -

At the beginning of June, Philip, who turned 50 this month, was
unexpectedly diagnosed with a strand of "locally advanced" throat
cancer which requires immediate medical attention. Though it is not yet known when Chevron will return to live work, it is hoped that he will again be available towards the end of this year. Therefore the
Radiators from Space show scheduled for July 6th in the Voodoo Lounge
will now feature the other band members in a revised show that will
feature some Radiators classics, alongside songs from the new album
Trouble Pilgrim, as well as other material.

We all wish Philip well for his complete recovery.

Flippin' bass players - they can never be dissuaded from wearing on their wrists those silly "Yes Mr Security Man, I really am the person it says I am on this" gig ID bracelets. (Everyone else throws them away immediately or tries to sell them to their wives on the black market later). If your staff don't know who you are, they have no business being on your payroll.

Still, looks like we managed a bit of a light show this time for a change. I am reliably informed that drummer Johnny demanded more lights for his spanking shiny new drum set and that lead guitarist Petey Holidai resisted furiously, preferring to keep my centre mic lighting fixed on my usual position, even, nay, especially in my absence, except for the couple of songs ("Kitty Ricketts" and "Faithful Departed") that Gav Friday actually performed in my stead on the night, all parties displaying horrifically sterotypical positions in the process. (Including, incidentally, the silenced Lead Singer, reduced to petty sniping from the safety of his laptop 400 miles away).

Thank the Lawd for Steve Rapid, still challenging rock hierarchies after all these years. No wonder he invented Irish punk rock.
