Mr. Chevron, where do you buy your hats?

My wife has been wanting to buy me a hat for some time now and I never like the hats see has me try on.

In Chicago, I commented how much I liked your hat during the show and I have agreed to let her buy me one like yours if you can help me locate one.

Also, have you ever offered fashion advice to Shane and if so what was his response?

Ha! That threads great, that would be some commitment to get on stage and take Philips hat. Not that I'm condoning such irresponsible behavior.

Actually, when I first spotted this thread, I thought that stylin' was some peculiar spelling of stealin' and that the hat-swipe from last year was back, with new plans and intentions.

This is actually where I buy most of my hats (not all) and in fact they have always sold porkpies since I first shopped there in the 1980s, when they were on the other side of 8th Avenue. I bought a new one there this afternoon in fact, a dark green felt one for $70. They also do them in wool finish for $45 in a variety of colours (grey, black, dark green, navy, maroon, faun) and, because they take a lot of hard wear with the Pogues, these are the ones I usually buy. I splashed out for the new green felt one for St Patrick's Day. Try this further link.

Dude is most appropriate. When I first came to the States I heard that mysterious word all the time and so I finally looked it up, to find that it meant, "A man fastidious in his dress." Mr. Chevron is without doubt the platonic ideal of a dude.

Thanks for the tip Philip. We went by today and my husband bought the most beautiful porkpie (maroon). Wonderfully blocked and feathered (at the discretion of the merchant). I was shocked your photo was not up on the wall! Spectacular merchandise.

Hilarious! I hope you don't mind me sharing this; but as a pretty solid non-hat wearer for years, I for some reason found myself hunting high and low for a pork pie hat in and around Manhattan at the weekend - perhaps it was a calling, perhaps I was trying to 'get with it'. I even pretended I wasn't whilst allowing the missus to 'shop' ("I only went for the concert").

If only I'd sussed how to use one of those internet booths instead of stubbornly exiting after a few goes.

I ended up with a Ben Sherman imitation brown thing from some sort of TK Maxx place that, on refelction, didn't even fit and probably could have bought back home here in Tamworth. Still, the nipper looked cool at school today.

If I may add - the concert was brilliant, and the hat wearing an inspiration.
