I was just sort of curious
certain people can take acid
and still come back from it, unhinged...
but happy, and sane.
other people it seriously fucks up
they cant handle the intensity...

from the answer i was hoping to gleam an understanding of the drug scene
and from that..
an idea of the mental state of the pogues in the 80s

Everything you say about Acid is true. I know people who are still "Acid casualties" from the Sixties, but many people also just took it, experienced it and moved on. But all that said, Acid never played a part in the Pogues, with one exception, which was Shane's lysergic period during the making of Peace And Love. On balance, I would say that was a net negative, but hey ho! it happened and no one got hurt in the long term. In case you hadn't heard, alcohol was the Pogues' drug of choice.

but if the infamous contact yourself had seen public release of some sort, then could you say harm had been done?

If you lined up all the drinks the pogues have drunk in their career so far Ive heard there would be enough to go around a tree over 16 times.

Yes, I just watched a recording of an interview with Shane and he talked about doing the very same.

There is no demand. Philip has the choice to decline to answer (as do we all) and if he does descide to ignore a topic or to announce he will not give an answer, his descision is respected, as it is with everyone on a good forum. Here Philip grasciously ansered a question honestly. There is no demand at all.

There is a demand for a yes or no answer. Unless you answer 'none of your business'!
