HOW TO START PLAYING THE GUITAR?

Changing the strings every week when you have only started playing is not going to help. A bad workman always blames his tools!
I had a listen its not bad you just need to play the c chord more cleanly and the intro isnt g d its g c apart from that its spot on!

Martins are good strings, although I use different brand. We´ll see how they sound on a record

Martin SP Phosphor Bronze are fine strings. I use med/light gauge. I like the extra "boom" when jamming with a bluegrass band. Let me know what you think of them Oirish.

as foir me oimpression aboiut Martin stroings, oi've set em' up toiday, by the way they're made they seem better qualoity, oi loiked the detaoil that they are made woith thoin endoings so tois' easoier to toie em' at guoitar's head; coiloiur of the stroings seems soimewhat doifferent, me prevoius were moire yelloiw oir broiwn and these seem to be moire redoish loike coiloiur

but moist oimpoirtant thoing, the soiund, oi'll wroite aboiut oit sooin; just noiw oim plannoin' to tune up the guoitar and start doin' me playoin' so oi hoipe tois' goinna be gooid feeloin'

tois' loike oimpoissoible to tune the guoitar noiw.. even when tuner shoiws oin tune, oit really oisn't, oir oi can't do oit..
twas' no boig deal doin' oit befoire; maybe oi shoiuld have kept that 2nd set of stroings, they've started to soiund better
and coiuloiur of these stroings, tois' same as prevoius oi thoink.. maybe due loight reflection oit seemed doifferent

Oirish, I'm way out of my depth here 'cos I know absolutely nothing about playing/tuning guitars. Is it possible that your tuner is faulty. Maybe you could get the guy in the shop to test it on an already tuned guitar or try his tuner on your guitar.

Oirish, have you tried tuning it the old-fashioned way, by the frets? Get the low E tuned (you can find the correct pitch in lots of places on the Web) and then tune the other strings off that: close the E on the fifth fret and tune the open A string to sound just like it. Then close the A on the fifth and make open D sound just like it. Repeat all the way down except one string changes to the fourth fret. I forget which, the B maybe, but you'll be able to tell when doing it. Then see if it matches with your electronic tuner.

You've not got the tuner set to Drop D tuning somehow, have you? I'd think you want to do standard first.

me eyes oipened toiday, as Archoimedes woiuld say Eureka but seems oi really have to learn everythoing
the hardest way poissoible.. oit coiuld actually be that oi was never REALLY oin tune !.... thats why the
feeloin' that stroings moight be bad, thats why oi had C and D soiundoin' weoird and oi tended to
play em' doifferently.. actually Philip's ointuoition was roight when he foirst asked oif was oin tune..
and Cdn Steve, Pyro, Clash.. were all roight aboiut sth beeoin' wroing woith the choirds; oi mean,
oi thoink that toiday oi actually heard the roight soiund of the choirds foir the foirst toime, and
oit soiunds beautoiful to what oi had befoire.. oi mean, oif ye coiuld hear me soiund noiw !!!!!!!

stroings were never to be blamed and the harsh soiund was not the result of me playoin' but
playoin' oiutta tune.....

thois tuner that oi have has loike 3 majoir LEDs, yeah, oine green and 2 reds.. so when stroings
are oiutta tune red leds flash moire oir less oin oine oir oither soide shoiwoin' where to tune..
so turnoin' the tuners oin roight doirection leads to green LED to appear, meanoin' oin tune;
stuff ois that thois ois boith guoitar & bass tuner and there are noite oindoicatoir LEDs
foir each.. boith foir guoitar/bass there are stroing numbers(guoitar & bass) shoiwn aboive and
beneath these oindoicatoirs; soince oi've started playoin' oi was soimehoiw certaoin that the
noite oindoicatoirs are foir bass oinly and never really paoid attentioin to what they're shoiwoin'
and that they were meant foir the guoitar stroings marked aboive oit as well.. by watchoin' oinly
maoin tunoin' LEDs and loistenoin' to the soiund oi was coinvoinced that oim tunoin' oit roight,
and oit doid feel that the guoitar ois oin tune... foir noite oindoicatoirs beloiw oit seemed that
they're oinly pointoin' oiut to bass of the soiund..

so Noel, meowhouse, everyoine.. oi messed oit up boig toime, twas' not that the tuner was
faulty, noir that the set of stroings can oinfluence the soiund so much; oi oiverlooiked what
was oin froint of me, oin froint of me noise; thois moight be the moist oimpoirtant lessoin
soince oi've started to practoise but oi woish that oi've seen thois moistake of moine earloier
