My thoughts have been with Philip's loved ones today. His songs and music enriched the lives of so many people, and I hope that they continue to give comfort to those he leaves behind.

I am grateful to this forum for gaving us the opportunity to let Philip know how much he was loved and appreciated by so many of us.

"Thousands are sailing" will always remain in my heart.

Ray "Chopper" Cooper (ex-Oysterband) shares some early memories of Philip on his f-book page. (Sorry if this has already been mentioned.)

I remember there being sniping about who was or wasn't at Tom MacMamamon's funeral, and whether or not that meant anything important... let's not go there here. Everybody has their own way to grieve, some people just do not do funerals, and these are ultimately very personal, private matters.

(Not accusing either or you of sniping, just trying to stop something before it starts).

And some of the pogues live very far away and may not have been able to make it back. 3 made it to the funeral, 2 others made it to the testimonial and I'm sure the other 2 would have been there if they could.

This is a real shame. Thank you Philip. Thousands Are Sailing is a song I'll be playing for as long as I live, and it is on such things legends are remembered.

You are absolutely right.

I'm sorry for my big bad mouth.

Shane's more than likely taken this very badly. Don't be too hard on him. I've been in absolute bits and I barely knew Philip so God only knows how he's feeling. Losing a very dear friend can be the worst pain ever. Much love to Shane. Hope you're alright x
