Pogues and Radiators from Space guitarist Philip Chevron saddened and shocked the music and arts world last month by revealing that the cancer he has battled since 2007 has become incurable and terminal.
Now, using the time-honoured football tradition of giving a departing player a send-off - a Testimonial - some of Philip's friends and colleagues have gotten together to offer a special tribute concert, which will take place at the Olympia Theatre Dublin on Saturday August 24.
Artists and writers confirmed for the Philip Chevron Testimonial Concert include Horslips, Luka Bloom, Declan O'Rourke, Brush Shiels, Shane MacGowan, Patrick McCabe, Gavin Friday, Joseph O'Connor, Duke Special with Fiona Shaw, Paul Brady, Mary Coughlan, Paul Cleary, Aidan Gillen, Roddy Doyle, The Radiators from Space, Johnny Duhan, Michael O'Connor and family, Terry Woods, Camille O'Sullivan and Hothouse Flowers. A feature of the show will be that performers will offer their own work along with selections from Chevron's own songbook, including some items never heard before in public.
Tickets onsale from Friday morning 5 July at Ticketmaster. 30 Euros.

Christy Moore's separate concert at Whelans on July 15, also honouring Philip, is now sold out.
EDIT:
Thanks
Philip wishes to offer sincere thanks to all the musicians and performers and writers who gave so generously of their time and gifts last Saturday night at the Olympia and to all the audience members who took the opportunity to support my cause and see such fabulous artists into the bargain. We kicked out the jams one more time!
