Or may it be available online afterwards?

Have a great night!

Yes! I'm from Germany too, can't be there tonight unfortunately. Would be great if it would be made available for people outside Ireland or the UK...Have a great time everybody! Prayers go out to Mr. Chevron in hope that he can be there and enjoy the evening!

It was a privilege to be at the Philip Chevron Testimonial. An array of artists paying tribute to a true individual. There were too many highlights to mention and memories that I'll cherish for years to come. Hats off to all involved. I'm not going to write a review of this concert because to do so would detract from the meaning of the event. Suffice to say, I had the pleasure of bumping into old friends and putting faces to names of people from Medusa and beyond.

Fantastic night. Very emotional. Highlights for me were Luka Bloom, Declan O'Rourke, Roddy Doyle, Johnny Duhan who sang Philip's song Falling Man (which i'd never heard before). It silenced the crowd with the image of a small boy at the top of the dark stairs, too afraid to go down and too afraid to go back to his room. Also the AMAZING Camille O'Sullivan. Her version of Lorelei was just incredible.

Shane 8) , Andrew 8) and Spider 8) were there and played Thousands (which i had heard before  )

Jem, Daryl, James and Terry were NOT  I'm not going pretend i know anything about other commitments, politics or personal issues but come on lads THIRTY FUCKING YEARS together as a band and it was glaringly obvious to everybody there last night that the Pogues should have played.

Thank you to everyone who made it possible.

Thanks to bubo (above) i've downloaded it and can't wait to sit down and listen to it.

Agree with everything ya just said. PhIlips words were highly emotional. Hothouse flowers rocked the shit out of faithful departed. Horslips could close any show in the world with dearg dorm (never knew phil came up with the name). Gavin Friday (whoever he is) was great too. Best gig I've ever witnessed. Fair play to all involved. And fair play to yer man who shouted Borgess at roddy Doyle when he came on stage:)

Here's Thousands: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1obaorf9ds

The guitarist and bass player seem to be completely incompetent, like they don't even know the right chords. However, Shane, Spider and Andrew were trashing!

You have to listen to this on the RTE recording in the link above. They struggled at the start because they seemed to be trying to get Shane's key or were afraid to fuck it up. When they all kicked in, it was a great version. Spider's whistle playing is fantastic.

Much respect to Shane for singing Philip's proper lyrics, not his own bastardisation about Behan puking or falling up and down the street. HE DANCED! And also the fear of priests with empty plates, guilt and weeping effergies 8) Has he ever sang that version live before?

If it's ok with Dublin Rambler I'm going to download video and edit RTE's sound recording onto it. I'll post it up here ASAP

Friar, I listened to it on the RTE radio, it sounded much better there but there were still some issues with chords, anyway, fuck it, great version. Shane sang the "guilt and weeping effigies" on the Paris Live DVD. However, I prefer Shane's own version with falling or throwing up and down the street. Much more Shane-style and fits the poignancy of the song better, imho. Spider was fantastic, indeed, he is always bang on :)

Ditto, all of the above. Camille O'Sullivan was the all around favorite, I believe. I thought Damo did a beautiful job of Rainy Night in Soho. He wasn't on the bill, good on Damo. I loved Declan O'Rourke, his Galileo was beautiful. When he followed it with Waltzing Matilda, with Andrew on drums, I realized it was a dirge for the end of the Pogues as we know them, the end of the get-togethers, of years of sharing. Very emotional evening, all around. The love for Philip was palpable. Philip, you are the most beautiful soul I've ever met. It was so good to meet some of you, you know who you are. Christine, happy birthday!!

To be fair it should of been the Pogues there anyway. Really cant imagine what was more important. They know better than anyone how to play along with Shane. Radiators put on a mighty show for Phil as did everyone else there. Fans of Phil who travelled from far and near got more than they bargained for:)

(went to see Shane one time in Naas and the popes had a new drummer they got that day, he knew none of the songs. Complete shambles. Last night was nothing like that. Andrew Shane and Spider pulled it out of the bag. Loved Declan o rourke and Andrew for waltzing matilda.
