Don't ask me for details yet but August 24th may be a good day to visit Dublin if you fancy a multi-artist celebration, the Philip Chevron Testimonial Concert, at one of the city's venerable hallowed venues. The bill is still being put together but I stress it will NOT include The Pogues, airfares from all points West being, at the very least prohibitive. Which is not to say there won't be individual Pogues there.

Glad to hear, if one can say such a thing.

Damn right you can say it 8)

My Dad got the same news and his sense of humour (and ours) carried us through. Party on Philip and i'll be there to raise a glass. Airfare not too prohibitive from North Tipp

Gig in Whelan's, Dublin for Philip Chevron ... Monday, 15th July.

Christy Moore first met Philip Chevron when the then 14 year old schoolboy booked Planxty to play an afternoon gig in O'Connell Schools in 1972. 10 years later Christy and Philip shared a stage at The National Stadium when Chevron and Agnes Bernelle played before Moving Hearts. Moving Hearts recorded "Faithful Departed ", Chevron's classic song, on the first Moving Hearts album. It was always a highlight of live sets in those heady days. Since then their paths have often crossed and they have kept in touch with each other.

When news came of Philip's recurring illness Christy expressed a wish to sing for Chevron and Philip gave the nod.

The gig will take place at Whelan's, Dublin on Monday, July 15th at 8 o'clock (Doors 7pm) Tickets: 36.50 euro (incl booking fee) Tickets will go on sale on Friday 24th May at 1.30pm

Available through http://www.wavtickets.ie or lo call 1890 200 1078.

Standing with Limited unreserved seating | Over 18's

I hope this comes off. If it does I'll do my best to be there. I'm going to have to try and cancel a theatre show though. Unfortunately I already have the ticket.

Please forgive me, you're probably getting a lot of this by PM from other people but I'd feel bad if I didn't at least tell you.

My friend Phil told me to tell you to look into a guy called Rick Simpson, he is Canadian and his website is called Phoenix Tears (I know it sounds a bit weird but Phil seemed to think he might be able to help). You can also search for him on You Tube.

Hugs x

I may not follow up all such leads but I am strangely comforted to get them. Mainly, I am surrounded by so many hard-working and smart Irish medical professionals just now that I can't swear I have time for more input. Thanks Heather

You are so positive about things. All of my life my mother has fancied herself an amateur naturopath with knowledge of which tinctures and potions and vitamins and diet to prescribe for any ailment. A lot of my life has been spent cringing a bit when she informs random strangers of what they should be doing to cure some ailment she guesses that they have, while she somehow tangentially includes a story about something that worked to firm up my stools when I was a toddler.

Anyways, you are a model of grace always.

God bless you Phil - I wish you well and hope your not suffering too much especially with anxiety.

You are a great guy who has shown so many people so much kindness through the years - get though this - lots of people - I know and am related to have - but all circumstances differ - I know that

Stay strong Phil - a strong mind and good diet can beat a weak willed cowardly disease - just try mate -just try

No wonder you said there were no pogues dates this summer !!! Now get busy getting well
