I think the song was called Under Creeping Trees. It was one of 3 songs on the band's first 12" EP. They supported us on some dates and were managed by Terry O'Neill who was our Irish press officer. Great band. We recorded it in Dublin. 1988 or 89 I guess.

Lash Lariat and the Long Riders

Are there more than one Long Riders.
I seen to remeber a song "Lewis & Clarke "by one band .But I would be suprised if it was them that Mr Chevron produced. I am guessing that the band Mr Chevron produced was an early Uk outfit from his Chiswick label days .

Lash Lariat and Riders (as opposed to the American band the Long Ryders) were a London band I recorded some 9 tracks with in 1984 and 1985, which were released over a Mini-LP Bitter Tears and a 12" and 7" single "Dole Queue Blues". They were big Hank Williams fans and were steeped in Western Swing, Hillbilly Boogie and Bluegrass, but executed with that attitude unique to Camden Town in those years - Pogues, Men They Couldn't Hang, Sting Rays, Bluberry Hellbellies, Shillelagh Sisters, Boothill Foottappers, Guana Batz etc etc - all stripped down drumkits, double basses and ramped-up banjos, accordions and yes, fiddles. Lash were a lovely bunch of guys, championed by Steve Beggs at the Dublin Castle in Parkway and brought to Big Beat Records (part of the Chiswick/Ace conglomerate) by Ted Carroll himself.

Excuse my ignorance in this area.

What exactly does a producer do?

Do they mix the records? Direct the musicans? Set the equipment up? :?

Just look busy (or at least engaged) and authorative (or at least worried) while the engineers do all the work.

Isn't it also the producer's job to get crucified by the fans for "ruining the band's sound" when they don't like the record?
