OPERA COMPETITION

I have a single ticket for Alban Berg's Wozzeck at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden on Tuesday March 7. As it looks like I will be rehearsing with the band in Washington DC that day, I cannot use the ticket, which is 8th row Stalls.

I don't want any money for it, but would like it to have a good home if possible. First person to PM me with the answer to the following question can have it.

Well, you're an erudite lot and no mistake (this is the one thing drunken journalists never mention when they're accusing you of throwing up over your shoes) and there were, as I suspected, lots of correct answers.

But the winner is.................. CHRISTINE from Twickenham!!. Well done Christine, your Crackerjack pencil will be winging its way to you any day now. Miss Walshy DID get the correct answer but was just pipped by Christine by 3 minutes.

Answer: Giuseppe Verdi made operas from Othello ( Otello), the Scottish play (The Scottish Opera), and The Merry Wives Of Windsor (Falstaff) while Benjamin Britten wrote A Midsummer Night's Dream. :wink:

Ooooh, I'm so happy!!!! Many thanks Mr C, that most definitely made my day. And I was sure on logging on that I was too late. Who would have thought the Medusa, besides all her other charms, could produce surprises like that. I'll go celebrate now!

Lol, Eric, no, I think since I will be taking his seat it would only be appropriate to show my appreciation and go disguised as Mr C. Perhaps a 'Police Line Don't Cross' sash? And of course, classy shoes.
The hopping would depend on the quality of the performance - if they match the Pogues, so be it.
