Does anyone ever remember Philip addressing the question of where he took the name Chevron from does the statement from this article "Chevron – who possibly took his adopted surname from the jazz record label Chevron Records" have merit?

No. I seem to recall, but can't locate here Philip saying he took it from the oil company because it sounded ... strong...or ...sophisticated? Possibly quoted in the Carol Clerk book. I'll have to check my copy.

There is an article in the December 2013 issue of Gay Community News about Chevron's song Under Clery's Clock.

"In 1987, ex-Pogues member, Philip Chevron, who died this October, wrote a song that is a rarity: an Irish single with an openly gay theme. Cathal Kelly looks back on its genesis and genius."
