Radiators -- New Album ?

Post Mon Apr 25, 2011 1:43 am

There has been some mention on Facebook of the Radiators From Space returning to the studio for a new album. A while back. Hope I'm not being too forward in bringing it up here.

Okay, we want release dates! Tour dates?

*When are you coming to Texas?*

We're working on a cover versions album. It should be finished in June, though we have not yet scheduled a release date. In the meantime, Trouble Pilgrim will get an American release - complete with the banned cover - in the Fall. Collect the set: the album now has three covers! Not since The Man Who Sold The World.........

The Rads would love to play in the US, but nobody has ever asked us to.

I believe I did ask you a couple of years back. But I imagine you are looking for a more substantive request.

New Radiators album

Post Tue May 31, 2011 8:38 pm

Hello friends

As may you already know, the Radiators are currently recording their 4th studio album, a set of cover versions of records from the great Irish beat groups, garage bands and blues combos of the 1960s - think Nuggets meets Pin-Ups.

The band has been financing this album through a public funding website, Fundit.ie. The recording budget is just over 11,000 Euros. So far, they have raised 15% of this, with just 18 days to go - the funding window is open only until Monday June 27th. The sting is this - unless the band raises all of the target money, it receives none of it!

For amounts of €10, €30, €50, €100, €250 and €1000, with an incrementally rising scale of Rewards, you can play a part in the funding of this historic and entertaining album. For the purpose of comparison, today 10 Euros = 9 UK Pounds = 15 US Dollars.
Full details of the album and of the Rewards scheme are available at this link:
http://www.fundit.ie/project/amusements-album-project

Before the worldwide success of rock bands from the 1980s onwards, the story of Irish rock started much more modestly, in tennis clubs and blues cellars in Dublin and Belfast. For the first time, the Radiators will tell this story with their customary flair, paying homage, in the process, to Skid Row, The Movement, The Creatures, Thin Lizzy, Orange Machine, Horslips, Peter Adler and The Next In Line, Granny's Intentions, The Blue Aces, Taste, The Strangers, The Editions, Andwella's Dream, The Eire Apparent, Sugar Shack, Ditch Cassidy and The King Bees and Bluesville.

Please help get this album made and do pass this on to anyone you think may be interested. Remember: The deadline for contributions on Fundit's secure website is Monday, June 27!

Kind regards

Philip Chevron, for The Radiators

I very unexpectedly bumped into Mr Chevron in Dublin yesterday and in between theatre recommendations, he told me that the recording is going well... now that I've seen this site, I think I'll definitely be donating a few quid! :)

You ever consider takeing The Lloyd Cole route of asking fans to pre fund a cd before it is released?

New Album Update
Here’s what I’m doing – I’m selling my next album NOW before I release it in an attempt to finance its production. This process has been ongoing since the beginning of the year.
As of today – April 10th – recording is 99% finished. I have one vocal and one harmony left to sing. I fly to London in the morning. Mixing starts on the 12th at Mick Glossop’s new studio.
The budget, which fluctuates from week to week, but should be fairly predictable now, is $60,000. So far, the presales have raised $30,000. These Cds will cost $11,000 to manufacture and ship. Tapete records will provide an advance. But we still need to sell the remaining 200 of the limited edition to balance the budget. These limited editions will not be available forever, even if we don’t sell all of them, because we need to manufacture them and ship them to our shop well ahead of the release date. I estimate that it will take our family and our new intern two weeks to ship all of them!................." Lloyd Cole Myspace blog

Hope you have as much ,if not more , success with it as Lloyd Cole.

Looking forward to hearing the new album, interesting to see such a well established act use "fund it". Why mention the mp3 download after the €10 pledge?, if I have a cd, I have an unlimited mp3 download
