dear philip,
hello. My name is Patrick Verner brother of the late Paul currently residing(for the last 29 years)in Orlando,Florida.I appreciate you getting tickets for my daughter Megan when you played in Baltimore. She lives there with my ex wife. She was so disapointed that she could not make it.She loves the pogues music. She playes the flute and her favourite song to play on it is "streams of whiskey".
I dont know if you remember my sister Angela. After my parents passed away within the last two years she sold the family home in Palmerstown and has opened up a bed and breakfast in Donbeg,Co. Clare. She has become a culchie at the age of 54.I have so many memories of Paul, but one of the most vivid was the horslips van pulling up to the house in Palmerstown and paul jumping in and off it sped.Used to love horslips. The Video of them has Paul in it many times.Im sure you have seen it.Anyway just wanted to touch base with you.How is Robbie Mc.Grath.??are you still in touch with him??
In closing,I will never forget how kind the pogues were to my family while paul was in the hospital in London. We all appreciated what you did for us during that sad time.
Take care and if you are ever in Orlando please look me up.My cell phone #is 407-948-9591and the home # is 407-622-5748.

Patrick, you can also use personal messages for corresponding with registered members of the fora (see the PM icon under the name of each poster and in each member’s profile). It’s safer than posting your private contact info at a public message board. Anyway, welcome at Medusa!

Hi Jackeen/Patrick

Nice to hear from you. Sorry the Verner family was unable to make it to one of the East Coast shows as planned - maybe next time. Regards to Angela - I think I met her at the hospital the day Paul died - she so resembled him that I did not even need an introduction to know who she was! I haven't seen Robbie McGrath since, oh, it must be since Self Aid in 1986. I believe he's been working with the Stones since then, God help them.

I miss PV all the time. Everytime I hear a great new record on the radio, I automatically think "Paul would have loved this!" I have been hanging out with Brendan Bowyer recently, and I know Paul would've got a kick out of that, too. I am, after all, the man who introduced Paul to Cliff Richard (in New Zealand). :)

Go well, go safely.

I remember Paul telling me about the time he was in the VIP lounge (don't ask) at Wembley stadium at a Prince concert.
He was gazing through the optimum positioned window down onto the stage.
He was standing alone, but he soon became aware of bodies on either side of him.
He slowly turned and peeked to the right "Jaysus, it's Eric Clapton" he thought, then he slowly turned to the left
"Jesus, it's George Michael". At that moment Prince let loose with a blistering solo to which Mr Clapton burst into laughter whilst George rubbed his chin and pronounced (think camp) "Mmmm, he's good isn't he"
