My husband and I came down from Seattle to see Cranky George on June 15th, you guys were so much fun and we just loved the music. James, we spoke briefly and you mentioned that you always wanted to come to Seattle and now I see that the Pogues will be here in October. I already have tickets to the show and am so looking forward to it. Now, when you come to Seattle here's hoping that you will fall in love with it and return with Cranky George. It's just a little ride up the coast from LA. By the way, it was a pleasure to meet you all, you are all such gentlemen and I really appreciate the time you give to your fans.

Me and the family were going to take a road trip up to Seattle this last spring, but it didn't materialize. The kids and the wife have been besotted with Grey's Anatomy to the point that going to Seattle has become like going to the Emerald City or something.
When the Pogues were on the road, back then, I remember always driving past Seattle, from Vancouver to San Francisco, (and always seemingly in the dead of night, but I don't think that can have been the case) and wondering why it was we never played there. Well, here we come. Eventually, I hope to prise the guys from LA out to other places (though we have gone once to Chicago and twice to NYC). Hopefully.
See you later.

Are you sure we didn't stop in once? I seem to have a foggy recollection of playing that joint Prince use to play? Could just as easily have been tour jumble.

James,
That's so funny that you would make the reference to the Emerald City. Years ago they had a contest to give the city a nickname ala "The Big Apple" and the winner was of course The Emerald City. Your family is right on! Actually I enjoyed LA (I've never met a city that I didn't like) but where did all those pretty people come from?

Hmm. The mention of Prince stirs up some sort of memory. But in my mind's eye, i have acres of Boeing factory sliding past the window, and at night, but that might be tour jumble too, I don't know. I've looked at tour dates on the back of all the t-shirts, but I can't find Seattle anywhere. Might we just have dropped in for a visit, and not played there?
The novelty of LA has worn thin after fifteen years, and all the beautiful people I want live in my house with me. Oh, not fifteen - thirteen, I think.

Philip, are you thinking of the First Avenue in Minneapolis? That was Prince's "home" for many years. I had tickets to see the Pogues at the First Avenue but had to give my tickets to my brother as I had a business trip mess things up. The Pogues instantly became his favorite band and of course are to this day.

It's Minneapolis. I'm convinced we didn't play Seattle ever. Minneapolis is where Prince is from, or if not from, did his thing.

Yes, I am content to settle on this also.

Actually I don't remember Prince ever coming here. Anyway, Boeing, rows of ugly buildings..that would be Seattle. However it really is one of the most beautiful cities I've ever seen. You just have to see it in the light of day, water, mountains and trees. By the way I have been reading your commentary on the Pogues tour in 05/06. You are quite eloquent, what fun to read. When are you going to write a book? You should, you have the gift,
