Hi James! Is a pleasure to be here again, and principally for a great cause.
I've just read about your shows in OCT and NOV and I'd like to know if is possible... Is there a possibility Cranky George has a show "near" your shows in L.A.? Did you follow my thoughts? Isn't hard.
I don't know yet if will be possible to me, but if I could see you (both) at the same period, would be amazing!! I could have 2 dreams coming true in one trip. Perfect!!!!!

Thank you, all the best for you and have a nice summer.

Hi James! Is quiet here lately, isn't it?

I hope you've had a great moments in your shows in Europe.
I've just known about a CG show on Oct 30. This is great!! I'll make all possible effort to be there. I could see CG and The Pogues in sequence.
To dream isn't a sin!

All the best

Isa

It has been quiet hasn't it? Been in Yurrup with the family and things to contend with. Sorry not to get back to you.

I'm glad we were able to figure something out for the 30th October. Dermot's working at the minute through until Christmas, but managed to hold a couple of days open in his contract, for the Pogues at the Wiltern and Cranky George at Molly Malone's. (Could the 31st be a crappier time to have a gig, I mean, Hallowe'en night for heaven's sake? I'm going to have to pay for not being on duty, handing out candy to the serially relentless stream of, for the most part, rather glum kids that beat a path to our door, and me in my blow-up Sumo wrestler's outfit that Andrew gave me for my birthday, which was such a winner with my kids, and my wife, last year.)

Oh, but, yes, and there were some great moments: the fireworks in Bilbao that rocked the hotel where I was trying to have a nap after driving from France; the promontory sticking out of the stage at the festival near Brussels that, well, someone had to go down and why shouldn't it have been me (I did miss Philip at that moment, because he would have come down it with me, I'm sure, as we did a few times, as I remember, along the table tops at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano) and Ian the lighting-technician trying to find the button that would make the footlights go on all along the promontory. It was so lovely for me to be in Europe (if it weren't for the fact that not for love nor money can you get a Vodaphone Top Up voucher in Belgium). And it's a bit of a disappointment to be back in Los Angeles again where the unflagging heat and the wide-spectrum culture of indolence is doing me in.

Thanks for the answer James!

Hey, your experiences weren't too bad, they could be worst (Murph's law  )! After all, they are a part of the show!

Don't worry about Halloween day, it won't be problem, you will see. First because The pogues fans have a GREAT POSITIVE ENERGY, and second, it can't be a bad day, because after all someone like Dermot was born in this day.

Only to you know, if you think LA is hot, think with me, you are in summer yet. Imagine us here in São Paulo (Brazil) in the "winter" where today the thermometer marks 36ºC. Can you imagine how will be our Summer? We will melt like icecream.

Have a lot of health, peace and inspiration

Isa, do you go to the beach in summer? Guaruja? That helps!

Yeah, sometimes I'm used to go to Guarujá, but I prefer Ubatuba (north coast of São Paulo), it is farther than Guarujá, but there are more options of beaches, with less pollution and cheaper.
Now, with our hot "winter" the problems are the water and the wind, it is toooooo cold there. I was there 3 weeks ago.
cheers

No, it's the kids I'm bothered about, my kids, plying the neighbourhood with their pumpkin buckets, and me, just, well, languoring backstage waiting for something to happen.

The accordion? Couldn't bring Accordion #1 with me because of luggage constraints (the summer hols and all), so Accordion #2 had to be brought out of storage. Two wires inside broke from a bellows-stretch and rendered the thing public-address-systemly silent. It's very hard indeed playing accordion parts (I even had to lean over to approach the piano keyboard at an angle approximating that at which I approach the accordion) on the piano, with the heavy keys moving escapement machinery (well, designed that way on account of it being an electric piano), but my years of copying Rick Wakeman kicked in and it was just a matter of a crick in the neck and sore forearms afterwards.

So, I would have used the promontory at Lokerse (Lokere?) a bit more, only I'd of haved to drug the piano with me.

Lullaby of London sounded really different but very cool by the way

I'm so excited to see that CG and the Pogues will be in LA in October. And we will be seeing the Pogues in Seattle on the 17th. Looks like the first show sold out here and they have added another show. October looks to be a winner, three shows in one month for me.

Diana in Seattle

Oct 5 cancelled?

Yes, sorry, the October 5th show has been cancelled - but only due to unforeseen circumstances. We're trying to figure out with Molly's how to get a replacement show sometime in October. I'll let you know, as soon as I know. But for definite, the 30th is going ahead.
