Hey, thanks everybody. Plus also, and as I said last night just before Fairy Tale of New York (since Shane was a bit on the laggardly side getting back on stage, and there was nothing going on but a bunch of guys and Ella in her turquoise dotted dress assembling on stage), it was Jacques Tati's, and John Lennon's and Ella Finer's and mine (and Camille Saint-Saens's too) (and Trent Lott's). I had a great time and had bread-and-butter pudding cake backstage, Ella and me both and then went back to the hotel for a drink before the bar closed.
On a wistful note, today, the 10th, happens to be Kirtsty's birthday.

Happy Birthday, Kirsty. Ageless, unforgettable, and a class act always. A glass shall be raised.

happy belated, james. we'll raise a glass in november.
in honor of kirsty's birthday, i read an interesting thing in that new U2 book. edge says that as steve lillywhite was putting finishing touches on the mix of 'joshua tree' (yes, over eno/lanois production) kirsty came along and, not being a huge fan, was making her opinions known which were the good and bad songs. for a laugh the band had her write a track sequence for the record (with the caveat that 'streets' would be first and 'mothers' last). she proceeded to essentially list the songs in order of best to worst. turns out the band really liked the sequence and went with it.
kirsty maccoll sequenced the joshua tree. ha.

Happy Birthday Mr Fearnley!
A lot of happiness, health, love, peace and of course, good music to season all that, but this "subject" you know better than anyone.
