Andy, I'm sorry but that's plain nonsense. James' accordion on Boat Train makes it worth the admission fee on its own. :D

I never debate the merits of a song with anyone, just like what I like and don't what I do not. Some song might mean something to someone, even if I think it is shit, and I hate to deprive anyone of the joy they derive from it. Sometimes it means holding my tongue when I want to vomit derision all over someon'e choice in music. There are songs that I am not keen on in the Pogues catalog, but you'll never know what they are. VERY few. "Boat Train" I really like , however. It is different in a way that I find most enjoyable. Plus, at least they were trying to do different things here and there, and were certainly putting out stuff that towered over most of the ooze dripping from my radio that year. Without being specific, of course.
Did the old songs taunt or cheer you, and did they still make you cry?

London You're A Lady Trivia!!

Post Tue Apr 04, 2006 12:50 am

See if any of you Medusa Fora members know this one:

From where was the melody at the beginning and the end of London You're A Lady stolen (or borrowed...sorry James & Phil)? Mr. Chevron & Mr. Fearnley, don't help on this one just yet.

I'm curious to see how many people here know this. A little music history, eh?

Ohhh! What would the prize be?

For those who want a listen, here is a midi file. The semblance is particularly noticeable at the end of the tune.

That would be taking it over the top, and that's just tasteless.

Plus, eleven rhymes with cooler words.
