James' suit & passes - Yours!

Post Sun Mar 23, 2008 1:36 am

Looks like James is selling his beat-up suit and associated laminates for charity:

http://cgi.ebay.com/POGUES-TOUR-MEMORAB ... dZViewItem

Proceeds are going to a good cause. Bid early and often.

Just a little more on this auction:

1) This really is James selling
2) It really is the suit/shirt he has used on the shows in Fall/Winter 2007, and the recent Spring 2008 shows
3) This really does include the 'AAA' "All Access, Artist" laminates from the three tours the suit was worn on
4) The proceeds from the auction really will be donated to Billy Bragg's charity and used to purchase instruments for the incarcerated

C'mon gang; use this as an opportunity to get a one-of-a-kind souvenir AND do some good with your moneys. It would be a shame if this auction ended up closing at roughly the same value as a tour T-Shirt.

DMZ, just curious, what would be a reasonable bid on these items?

Whoops, sorry for the misspelled name DzM! Also, I am now officially the highest bidder!

Beats hell out of me. I'm a terrible judge of the relative value of souvenirs.

It seems to me that this is worth more than a concert T-Shirt though. I mean - yeah, OK, what are you going to do with a beat-up suit? But still, it's a suit that has been a Part Of The Magic. It is what others around here have referred to as "the artifact." It seems to me like a collector would value it higher than it's currently bid at. Plus I also think the laminates are kinda cool. But what do I know?

(And congratulations on being the highest bidder! :) )

You'll have to wear it next three tours

Did James bring it to the drycleaners or does it come with all sweaty armpits etc?

According to the site, it comes with all sorts of fluids. It looks like another Medusian outbid me so I'm off to try again. Remember, its all for charity.

Well the bids at $202.50. Any eBay experts on the raft? Who or what are these i***c bidders? eBay trolls?

I'm no eBay expert, but my understanding is that other bidders are anonymous (i***b) until the auction closes.

Also - Yay charity!

That makes sense. Well, I tried $250 but got out bid again. Good luck Medusans!

You're a braver man than I.

Congratulations to whoever ends up being the winner!
