James,
Not to add to your checklist....but, on the Molly Malone's website it indicates the show starts at 8:00p.m. On mySpace I believe the show time stated is 8:30..???

Thought you should know - just in case you aren't aware already :)

Thx,

Clearly the Answer to this conflict is to get there around 6:00p and start drinking beer.

Mmmm. Beer. The solution to (and source of) all of our problems.

It's 8.00pm, despite the thing on the Cranky George myspage. I'll change it forthwith. I mean, we'll go on a bit later than that, because we have to do the clasping-hands-thanking-god-motivational thing backstage which can take up some time, let alone waiting for Brad to finish writing up the damn set lists, prying Dermot away from his fans and sending someone out to discover where the fuck Kieran's got to - so, let's say 8.05.

Sound advice. Clearly you are a wise old veteran of such matters.

James, I'm trying to envision the hand-clasping kumbaya motivational moment, but I am having difficulty in visualizing this in that Brad, Dermot, and Kieren are apparently elsewhere and you are apparently there backstage by yourself. How exactly do you accomplish this? You are a man of obvious talent, but this does seem beyond the pale.

Also, having been in attendance at a number of Cranky George celebrations, I find the 8:05 a tad optimistic.....I actually thought the stating of differing starting times on the two websites was planned. (I thought that Molly's was announcing the scheduled start of 8:00 and Cranky George was announcing that that it had no intention of starting at the scheduled time.) You're sure about that 8:05?

See you there.

Molly's tip...

Also try the burger. One might not think by looking at the minimalist kitchen that it kicks out the good eats, but no joke...the burger is really f'in' good.

On a purely selfish note, the band following Cranky George on said evening, The Mighty Regis, ain't too shabby, either. Our cover of "Boys From The County Hell" will, no doubt, be on the setlist.

Cheers!

Thank you Cranky George for yet another memorable night! There was hardly even standing room. One of the most highly attended CG events...

Thanks again for all the inspiration you give us.

Best,

I was lucky enough to find myself in LA for this show and must say it was one of the most original sounds and performances I've seen in a long time (whatever that means). I would actually go as far as to say it was inspiring.
The swaying of style and content between songs as they switched songwriters and singers kept me on the edge of the seat.
Being on a road trip I wasn't able to stick around for the Pogues shows....yep. It was either a ticket (plus this fee, plus that fee, plus theatre fee, plus "hey that fee looks nice too") or a couple days' gas on my slow trek back east, and was kicking myself throughout my return desert journey for missing it.
My first and only night in LA and a great show to go along with it made it great.
Still can't believe I missed those Pogues shows but Cranky George has a new big fan.
