Cait looked great and seemed to really enjoy the show. On first , wearing what she described as a '70's' costume ( black dress with white motifs , matched with a similar hairband), she and her male coach danced to Joe Dolans's You're Such A Good Looking Woman. The judges made kind remarks about her 'enthusiasm ' etc. Marty Whelan's intro. comments described her as the 'ultimate rock chick' , mentioning her work with the Pogues and Gavin Friday. Marty also asked her about news that she was studying and she told of how she is doing a psychology course with the UCD Adult Education Centre. She also talked about how her nieces were in the audience and how they think she is the coolest aunt ever etc. A short report on her training showed her throwing shapes etc. in a AC/DC t-shirt and jeans.

She didn't win through to the second round and was good humoured in her departure comments. She said that even her nieces had preferred another contestant so she knew then she wouldn't win.

I saw the show on tape and fast forwarded to any bits that seemed to feature Cait. She seemed to pop up in various other group things , smiling all the time. The above link promises to have extracts for , eventually, viewing.

Sorry for just seeing this thread, but it seems the US and the UK have traded reality shows quite a bit in the past. I'm not a fan of any of these "reality" based shows peronsally, but the US does have a version of this show.

They are entirely interchangeable and the traffic goes both ways. American Idol began as Pop Idol in the UK. There is no such thing as a cool reality show, though the dance ones do have a certain car-crash appeal. That said, I recently saw one edition of what looked like a hugely entertaining series in the UK where, instead of seeking the new Celine Dion or Michael Ball, the search was for Speciality Acts - jugglers, contortionists, trick cyclists, talented dogs, musical saw orchestras - Vaudeville, in other words. It was like welcoming back an old friend. What was it called, anyone know?

On the red carpet on the way into The Point to receive the Meteor Award last year, I was cornered by the enthusiastic, camera-wielding team of a show called You're A Star, the Irish Pop Idol or whatever, and asked to address their camera directly. "Mr Chevron, have you any words of encouragement for our contestants?" they demanded. In this situation, I felt qualified only to respond with my true feelings which, by coincidence, were the first words out of my mouth. "Yes! Get out of the business now. Leave it to the professionals. Like me."

Well, in the US we did have America's Got Telent for a while (actually checking the site, it looks as though they are getting started on the new season soon). Seems like the show you are describing here. Saw a guy on it once (the one time I watched it more than a second, time to switch channels), he "played" his teeth flicking them with his fingers. Rather "talented" actually, but i'm not running out to buy an album of his.

The abortion show? I'm pro-choice, but if there really is such a program...I'll just go throw up now.

Snakes on a Motherfucking Plane (the reality show) is in production...I believe.

Did the Dutch invent Being Bobby Brown too? I must know the truth.

Regardless of who invented it, it was interesting to find out that Whitney Houston was more ghetto (in the trashy sense) than Bobby Brown.

Ok, I think this might be a case of playing the old time game "Kiss my Ass!" ... so .... who won? Or does someone now have to answer a question. Frances -- for 15 points and a spot up on the board: Who would you rather share a hot tub with -- Bobby or Whitney? Your answer, after these messages.
