This symbol is very, very far from being cool in any case. (Poor teddy bear which found itself in such a disgraceful company...)

You should go for treatment to Belorussia before your disease becomes chronic...

Whilst I too labour under the allure of Red nostalgia, take care my young Canuck friend. Those Medusans, like our beloved Agent Z and her countrymen (and many others besides), who have actually languished, laboured, lived, loved and lost under the oppressive hobnailed boot of Stalinist state tyranny do not share our Western less-informed fascination with said symbols. Hence Zuzana's response.

Stalinism and Maoism are in no way real communism.

May I humbly ask a question? What is "real communism" according to you? Can you give an example of its functioning in real life?

We've ahd a few tentative stabs at this conversation before Z, remember? Sadly, there are few, in any, examples of a truly 'functional' communist society that I can find. Doesn't totally invalidate the idea, intellectually or idealistically speaking, however. I will dig up more info on the mad attempts at a 'New Australia'; established, from memory, in Paraguay in the late 1800's. A Utopian socialist experiment; that ultimately failed, of course, but a bold effort for it's day. When I spoke before, I was agreeing with you re: your distaste and disdain regarding Soviet paraphenalia.
